Cowboys & Aliens - Jake Lonergan Gauntlet Weapon

I will stop by 7-11 today to see if I can pick up a couple for you. PM your address and I will let you know what shipping will be

I'll be at dragoncon as well. I'l look for the guy with hand sewn chaps. (I'll be the chapless one with an incorrect leather hat.. LOL!)

Glad to see Jake will have good representation at D*Con! lonely, I picked up your cups tonight, and they'll go out first thing in the morning

Hey, I'll be at D*Con in my costume too!

We should all meet up and do a photo-shoot.

<---Post 1138! WooHoo!

i have some to get rid of. I have been posting pics of what they look like on here. i am also working on a few that will have extra L.E.D.s and a small vibration motor in it. Message me back and i will give you the info. Or just follow my latest link.

Well Kevin, thanks for shipping the stuff so promptly. It seems fate is out to screw me though. The package came about 3 hours ago while I was at work, and since it was express shipping, they require a signature. I always forget that. Now it's off on a mail truck somewhere and won't be available for pick up until tomorrow.

Talk about a last minute job. Not sure if I can get it done, but I'm going to try to make it wearable in about a day to be ready to leave Thursday for the con. :/ No paint, no extras. Oh well, wish me luck.

You won't have any troubles, dude. You can rip out the cup in, like, fifteen minutes. You'll be fine. :thumbsup

Yep.. tear the cup out, and just pick up a foam pipe insulation noodle to pad the inside. You might have to finagle to get your hand through it, but once on, there's plenty of room for your wrist and padding.

Anyone else doing a scratch build on this?
Here's my latest progress, the extended right and left side pieces:

Also, I've been going over the coloring, doing a lot of tests and only recently decided against using brass/gold overall.
I've been looking at the following photo quite a bit:
PrintforSideDetail.jpg

The thing that strikes me most when I look at it is all the silver that comes through on the edges and where ever it's scuffed.
That tells me that the base coat color is silver NOT gold or brass.
The second thing that strikes my eye is all the metallic brown, not the really dark wash but the golden browns that seem some how transparent.
So here is my last color test and I'm curious to hear what the more experienced guys out there think about this:
ColorTest.JPG

What I did was to paint a scrap piece of PVC Pipe a chrome silver and let it dry over night. I then sealed it with an automotive grade clear. When that had dried for a good long while I tinted it using what's called an "Anodized Orange" which is really just another transparent spray with an orange tint.
I'm pretty happy with the results as it clearly goes from the light Brass color on the left to metallic Brown on the right.
The clear sealer also gives it that other worldly look of melted glass if you know what I mean.
I'm going to try some dark brown washes on it next and see what happens.

Very nice! Wish I could been there to see it in person. You need to do some weathering now go roll around in the driveway some! =)

For a second I thought that was a pic of Daniel Craig! Awesome job! I'm getting my cup soon thanks to forum member PrinceNeo. Looking forward to modding it!
