Converting WAV to MP3

I've got some old WAV formatted clips of TOS Cylons that I'd like to convert to MP3 for a new costume. But, I'm not having much luck as it's not recognizing what must be a pretty old CODEC. Can anyone point me to some help?

I've converted .wav to .mp3 using these pay programs...
-Xilisoft Audio Converter
-Nero

Also, I'm not sure but I think you can import a .wav into iTunes and it will convert the file to an .mp3 for free!

iTunes will do it.

On the Mac anyway. Not sure about the PC.

There's a program called "Right click MP3". It'll convert wav files to mp3's and vice versa. It's free, and it lives in your right click menu in windows, which makes it super convenient.

In general the license owners have left the FREE software companies alone, in hopes to spread the use of the technology... But, yes technically anything that decodes or encodes MP3 is supposed to be licensed...

look up and download a program called "cdex" it's free and it's great. I've been using it for years converting wav to mp3 and ripping cd's.

Itunes will do it on the PC too.

Just to add one more option to the list. I use the free version of NCH Switch for Windows available here.

I highly recommend!
