I'm right in there with you. I am not a metal worker, so cutting metal wing panels is out.
But my plan IS to run square brass "tubing" (is it tubing if it's square!?) along the inner edges of the wings. In my experience, it seems the square tubing is structurally stronger than the round.
I am going to use three sizes, telescoped. The stock wing gets thinner out towards the cannon, so by telescoping down to a smaller tube, I think I can sort of match the depth of the wing (Rider knows what I'm talking about here)... Plus the telescoped tubes will be much stronger than a single tube.
I do like the idea of covering the square tubes with sheet styrene cut-outs. Would add accuracy and cover the brass...
