Re: collection showoff! - Batman Begins suit display pg. 15

Oh and I don't I ever showed this off Rylo's good ol' Daredevil Grapple. I showed off Ry's amazing daredevil billy club earlier in this thread. It is constructed well, but holding it always made me imagine myself twisting it and having the walking cane pop out or connecting it with another and having a nunchuck. This grapple is nothing short of amazing. It is constructed just like the original, as Ry had his hands on the original at one point. You flick the switch and *pop* the grapple hooks spring out. A great feature for deterring muggers.

And in pure "Where's Waldo" fashion, see if you can find the grapple in my new curios (which were a necessity or else I couldn't walk any more through my basement...

Thank you thank you -they are a never ending source of joy and headaches.

Much appreciated :thumbsup Yes, that's why I'm cleaning up a bit. last thing I need is to one day find some prop fan's skeleton buried underneath all the rubble because he couldn't find his way out.

It's just a diamond select stargate. Individual pieces of it came with the action figures and if you got them all you could assemble the whole thing. They're getting a bit old, but are still available on ebay (as individual action figures, or the stargate already collected and assembled).

Absolutely amazing collection you've got there. Where did you get the IM Mk. III suit from? I didn't see where you mentioned it earlier in the thread.

It's a TMP v3 suit. It's not as accurate as some of the more recent suits that are being produced by others now. But when displayed right, I think, it looks fabulous.

Re: collection showoff! - Batman Begins suit display pg. 15

I've been on a voltron kick lately - don't know why - Probably because my kids found my childhood box of robots in the closet.
So a whole bunch of new voltron stuff is on the way, but my old matchbox voltrons have held up pretty well over the years. I've already replaced the missing parts of lion voltron.

The image immediately above is the new toynami masterpiece voltron (the die cast version). I thought it would be good to get an updated version of the old 80's version. Nope, it feels like it's made of cheap plastic (where there is plastic), the joints are not well thought out and way too flimsy. I feel like I'm going to break the thing. There are comments about it all over the internet, how this is supposed to be an "adult collectible" so it's not supposed to be played with too much or banged around.... Wtf?! The 80's version wasn't a "adult collectible" and it's leaps and bounds above the toynami in terms of durability and quality. I dunno, "adult collectible" just sounds like a term they use to cheapen out.

Great addition Thomas! I too have been on a toy kick lately. Right now, I am finishing my Indiana Jones vintage figure collection. Just missing Marion and Indy in German Outfit:

Must be in the water. I put prop collecting on hold for a month or two and went on a vintage toy binge of Voltron, Mego, Transformers, He-Man, Shogun Warriors, etc....

Anyway.... This thread is like crack, I keep coming back to stare at the photos :lol

That's an awesome collection jedifyfe. It's a whole new level when you try and find toys still in their packaging. I like to display stuff so there are several situations where I have to get two of something so I can play with one. Having just one or two missing is the most infuriating thing too. You start obsessing.

Movie freak, thanks for the kind words. Yknow a lot of people think I should get into shogun warriors too. It's a whole new world that im not sure I'm up for.
I'll post some more worthy pics soon for you all.

Re: collection showoff! - Voltron kick last page

Okay, I've added the last two items I've wanted to satisfy my Voltron kick.
The first is a MASSIVE 23" Mattel Voltron. This voltron was only available with a subscription, and then Mattel would ship one lion at a time over the course of a year.

There were a lot of problem with this Voltron. Quality control issues, fit issues, paint issues....etc. People didn't like functions of the "auto pop out legs" Thankfully, I got mine from evilbay, and all the lions were checked for quality before being sent to me.
It's the biggest Voltron ever made. It transforms and comes with 3 3/4" pilots that actually fit inside the lion. Yes, you can put your old star wars toys into these lions.

So I wish the paint job was a little better, i does look a little cheap looking. I wish it didn't have pop open legs which pop open too easily sometimes. I wish that it would be able to stand better in certain poses.

but IT"S FREAKING 23 inches!!! Size does matter.

I had to rearrange some shelves to fit this bad boy in. See the"normal sized" die cast voltrons on the bottom right?

At the feet of the the Matty voltron is the "newer" toynami masterpiece voltron which is puny looking compared to this thing.

Next up, I picked up a newer version of a "Miracle Productions" die cast Dairugger (Vehicle voltron) to stand in front of my old matchbox voltron. According to the description it's 60% die cast and I believe it. It's hefty. There were all sorts of problems with this release. Lots of quality control issues as well Apparently the company is or has already lost the voltron license and had to rush these out. A lot of the vehicle voltrons that people got in the beginning of the run were overrun with problems.

I got mine through a online toy distributor, "Chimungmung" I know, weird name, little known company. But I have NEVER had better service. The vendor sent me an email right after my order confirmation warning me of quality control issues and asked if I wanted him to inspect every single piece before he sent it out to me. He then sent me pictures of the assembled and disassembled voltron (with a piece of paper with my name on it) and packed everything back up. GREAT GREAT GREAT customer service.

Anyways, the voltron himself is pretty awesome. It's sturdier than the toynami die cast voltron who's joints, I feel, are too weak and loose. The problem with vehicle voltron is just a function of its inherent design, he's got too many parts to connect. Each part on mine joins well with others, but there are a lot of "moving parts." definitely no recommended for children. Joints must be treated with care when playing with it, but it's poseable like no other voltron. It comes with a whole bunch of accessories too; 3 different swords, 3 different hands/fists, a whip, two spears, two circular blades..... It's pretty nuts how many accessories it came with.

Again, there are only a few distributors that probably carry this - and I'm really not sure how long they'll stock them. Get them while you can. Read and watch the reviews for the "miracle productions voltron" before you buy though so you know exactly what you're getting.

Thus ends the voltron kick, I've got my old voltrons all fixed up, new die cast releases of them, which are no better IMO and the massive voltron that I may let my kids play with. The only thing I could possibly want here on out is a vintage original popy voltron with all the missile launchers and everything. I did way too much research on voltron toys, so if you need any help parsing it all out let me know. Did you know that there were at least 8-10 different variations of the lion voltron released over the years?! It's disturbing that I do.... haha

Lol. I know all about that being a robot collector myself. Actually thinking of letting my Toynami masterpiece voltron go.

Regarding your thoughts on the new stuff: I dunno. I agree with the adult collectible label as they aren't toys compared to the 80s stuff. They are more like poseable models. You just have to know what kind you would prefer. Whether you're the kind to handle and play with them more or the kind of collector who prefers minimal posing and just displays.

IMO the design of the newer stuff is way more accurate than the older stuff. And lastly, I'm a purist so I go by all the original Japanese titles and names. Lol. Just my two cents. Hehehe. Shoot me.

In any case Thomas, WOWOWOW!! Cheers man! Your stuff is sooo inspirational and jaw dropping!!

Finished the Batman begins suit yesterday. The last piece needed was the silicone Bale head to be painted. I was recommended to a fabulous painter by the name of Monte Ward. Some of his horror work can be found here: Home
As you can see he does fabulous work.

I sent Monte three busts which I will unveil as I revise some of my displays during the next month or so.

Monte did a fabulous job on these busts. One of the best qualities that all these busts have is that the "multilayered" paint job actually stands up to flash photography. It definitely adds to a more realistic effect in person as well. He can be contacted by email: dreggs88@hotmail.com

The suit is a Inferno v3 complete suit, Kbillan's v3 belt with thekingaswing's accessories, RD gauntlets, UD replica's boots and to round it all off there is coofunkcurly's beautiful cape.

On to the pictures!

Tell me what you think!

Re: collection showoff! - Finished Batman Begins lifesize display! Pg 16

DUDE!!!

This looks amazing. These life-size pieces are so hard to get right and you nailed it. The bust sits on the manny perfectly. The shoulders look great. The overall pose of the mannequin is spot on as well. To my eye, it looks like a person standing there and not a mannequin, that's the highest praise I can give.

Now I want one ya *******! :lol
