Cobra Commander (Krake)...Upgrade Help?

Re: Cobra Commander (Krake) Build...

Wow, Hyper... All I can say is wow ;). That's fantastic work!!!! Crabra, must be very proud. Any chance when you get some free time you could take us through the process of making the visor buck? I'm planning to build a vacuform machine really soon and I would love to know this technique for my own personal projects. Thanks in advance ;)

Thanks, Unfortunatly I already made the visor buck and made a mold of the buck itself, Next time I have to make a visor buck I can show the process it takes, my suggestion is take the original visor you cut out of the helmet make it as smooth as possible, any imperfection like dents and such will reproduce on the vacuformed visor, also make sure that the buck itself can handle the heat from the plastic, I use Smooth On's Smooth Cast 385 to make the bucks, I was out of it when I made the Cobra Commander buck and used fiber filled 320 but it was a fail and couln't handle the heat so it delaminated, luckily I made a mold so the second visor buck should be fine with the 385

Wow that looks pretty damn cool.

Thanks

Maybe in the side vent area you can cut them out and mount some squirrel fans to help keep air moving.

Actually I designed the vents where they can be cut open towards the back parts of the fins this way there is the possibilty of mounting fans to bring in fresh air, I will open the vents on Crabras helmet but leaving it up to him if he want to install the fans

Looks so cool! Beautiful cast, should be easy as hell to finish!

LoL Thanks, that was the plan, I hate spending hour or even days prepping a casting for paint work, with this casting I can have it ready in less than an hour

Re: Cobra Commander (Krake) Build...

I hope everyone knows who the frig I am at that convention...I'll have to bring all 15 IDW comics to flip through the pages so everyone can see:lol

I was watching a Youtube video on hooking up a 5v battery to a small computer fan for helmets. Looks easy enough...:confused

Also contemplating getting either a voice changer and/or amplifier. Obviously with the comic version I have no way to know how he sounds, and I'm not doing any Chris Latta impersonations I think.

LoL you have to use the Squeeky voice Cobra Commander had in the old 90's GI Joe cartoons and you havve to talk with a hiss, not a lisp lol

Re: Cobra Commander (Krake) Build...

In my opinion, don't talk at all. That just makes you more of a badass, like Boba feet.

Re: Cobra Commander (Krake) Build...

Quick update

I had to make a new visor buck a few days ago since the original one delaminated and developed craters when the first visor was pulled from the original buck in the smooth areas, I Sent the visor buck to a friend of mine to vacuform me a few visors, I should have them by this weekend so im hoping to show a finished helmet by Monday, I got my fingers crossed that I can show you guys the finished helmet by the beginning of next week
