Limited Run CLOSED: Kylo Ren CNC aluminium ultra accurate Saber

Those look amazing. Also thank you for this, I just installed my clip as well and was wondering how I was going to tackle the clearance issue with the belt hanger.
No problem, it was either that or remove some from the saber it's self, but didn't want to do that, so I opted for the holder itself, works great!!!

They should mould all of the constituent parts and then recast in a polyurethne resin. they could then sell a more affordable version and sell more

Your saber turned out really fantastic! Well done!

Chris's Looks fantastic, debating on Doing it myself, or having my Prop House do it, I'll probably tackle it.
I mounted my clip as well and the shapeways plugs fit perfect, (KR V5 Side and top Plugs).
I removed one of the small top plates on either side of the belt mount plate so I can slide the saber off without hitting the bottom fins of the saber.

If anyone gets the plugs, make sure the top plug you get is the one made for the 1inch top, not the 875 one. You can get these files for 3d Printing here: http://www.shapeways.com/shops/gg4g?section=Lightsabers&s=0 You just need to have a login and you can download the files yourself, or have shapeways print them for you.

Moulding and casting would be an option, It would be more of a belt hanger though. If you wanted to mould a version that allowed you to put in electronics, it would be much more difficult to get a robust enough item due to many thin walls. You can print this saber off from the files I listed. I know there were a few guys offering a print service of the entire saber for about $100.

If a second run is in the works, will the size be increased to match the Prop Shop replica ? It turns out the actual prop is closer to the size of the Hasbro Black series "toy".

This version is EONS more accurate than a force FX model. This is around the same length, but much more accurate in detail and overall outer diameter. The FX version is around the correct length, but WAY too thick. It's disgustingly thick compared to the screen used prop. I am six three, 230, and can't wrap my hands around an FX. With all due respect, this version is much closer to screen accurate than an FX. Adam Driver is roughly the same size as I. Watch the daddy stab stab scene and take a close look at how his hands wrap around the prop. Much slimmer than an FX.

True, PART of the Force FX saber is too thick: the grip section. But it would seem that only that section is oversized. The upper section and pommel are exactly, or almost exactly the correct diameters. And the length is also correct.

This aluminum machined saber is beautiful. No one doubts that. But I believe it's been established that it's slightly undersized now that some have received the accurately-dimensioned propshop replicas. For example, I believe the upper section of the prop shop replica is about right at 2" in diameter, whereas I believe the upper section of this to be around 1.75", right?

So here is some news.Gustavo the creator of the files in the spirit of the free nature of the originating files has given these files out to another saber maker who has started gathering interest on FB in several saber groups.

So if you missed out on this, there is another run starting up. I'm not a part of this run. There is no recasting or stealing of files going on, they were freely given by the files creator.

That in mind, in the last weeks I've been working with Gus (creator) on an exclusive V2 of these files that will NOT be available to anyone else to produce.

This V2 will integrate many design upgrades that were identified from the V1 to ensure a much easier time building the saber.

Included in the V2 will also be the scale updates to bring the saber into like with the propshop hilt in way of size (thickening of the grip slightly)

Overall this V2 will really be including many many small tweaks to the design and details that will make V2 the ultimate Kylo available, even better then propshop, and it will not just be a static prop :)

Stay tuned for updates as we get the last second tweaks to the internals of the V2 and start getting the quotes from machinists.

Will the details in the cut-out be accurately represented in the V2? Other than scale, that's the only thing I'd like updated.

Is there anyone who can print the blade plugs and chassis for less than the ridiculous £56 shapeways want?

It came! This thing is gorgeous. It's been a long wait, but it was worth it!

Definitely interested in the V2, god help me.

EDIT: Got my Al Black base down. :thumbsup

Count me in, I also will need someone to finish this for me who also is doing a full build :)

"Kylo ren V2 hilt" is interesting very much.
I want to participate!

Thanks everyone for the vote of confidence.

I will make sure that everyone knows about the V2 when it's ready to push out.

Planned december before I start to take any names.

I will be working with some very good folks to offer fully painted pieces and or fully wired pieces as well as empties for those who want to do it on their own.

Oh man I think I will have to sign up for this v2 as well. Hopefully Artisan FX will be around for finishing still. I would love to have a second saber finished by them.

Also maybe we can have CNC saber plugs this next time around? I think that would be a nice finishing touch and having everything all metal.

Hi guys, does anyone have a list of ALL the parts we need for electronics (a link to every part would be awesome)? I'm a bit lost... Have a nice day :)

AFX will surely be ready to take a bunch of finishing orders for this. I'm absolutely positive about this.

What I found a bit troublesome last time was the number of different options that were available. with the base version and the additional machined components. We did this as a way to bring more people in and to save costs but in the end it ended up costing us. The logistics of separating orders was a nit of a nightmare, and it's amazing it was pulled off flawlessly. also with 3 parts needed to be cast, it means a lot of work for Scott to cast these.

This time there will be the option for an empty, a painted, or a painted and wired saber. The sabers them selves will all have the same parts fully machined. No a la carte machined parts.

If the plugs can be included in the machining and keep the costs under control I will 100% consider making this a part of the run.

This is why you hire a saber smith to wire your saber. You aren't likely to get someone to spend the time to give you a parts list. But it's possible... this community has done crazier things :D I've learned with experience, it's worth it to pay someone who has done this a lot to wire it up if you aren't 100% comfortable with everything. You'll save yourself a lot of headache and money wasted along the way.
