Clash of the Titans Remake... What do you think?

Yeah, I always wondered about the fact that there were no TITANS in the move, this or the original.

As for the 3D-- SKIP IT. Much like Alice in Wonderland, it was processed after the fact using the newly hyped "Dimensionalizing" process. A few times I took my glasses off and with the exception of a few blurry elements in the background or very close foreground, the movie was very clear and appears almost 2D. Save your $$ and see it in 2D.

Overall, I liked it. Not an Oscar worthy performance, but a fun movie non the less. Honestly, about the only thing that bugged me a little was that the gods' armor didn't look all that Greek. Other than that, no real complaints.

I had a lot of fun watching this movie. Fiennes as Hades and Neeson as Zeus steal the show.

I prefer the original film's Calibos, but overall I think this movie was a lot of FUN. Did people forget about having fun at the movies?

This movie moves along at a very fast clip.

It was fun to see Bubo, but it did make me miss him.

And hat's off to the VFX guys, their Pegasus was fantastic.

Just got back from seeing it in 3D.
I loved the original. Still do even though it hasn't aged too well.
This new one, what a huge steaming pile. Horrible CGI. The medusa sequence was SO disappointing.
The best (and only) decent part of the new film was the snub they gave that rejected metallic owl from the first film. What was it's name, snarf, wicket, orko, gleek? Pretty sure one of those was correct.
The 3D blew compared to the Alice in Wonderland 3D.

Thumbs down. Way down.

Just got back from seeing it in 3D as well.
I had high hopes for this film, unfortunately I was pretty disappointed.
I'd have to say it was about ** out of five stars.

The movie has virtually no pacing at all (I didn't even know such a thing was possible) and no character development, just one quick scene after another.
We only get background information on a few characters, but nothing that made me care about any of the characters on a personal level. Characters were introduced, and killed off as quickly as they appeared.
There was virtually no tension buildup, just jumping right into action sequences and the ending battles ended as quickly as they started.
There was also too much use of the Deux Ex Machina element.

Neeson and Feines did the best they could with what they given, but Id have to say that Pete Postlewait had the best performance in the film....Unfortunately he wasn't on screen very long.
Instead of taking elements from the original film which needed improvement, they took all the best elements from the original film and made them worse.

The Bubo easter egg cameo was very clunky and out of place.

The 3D was pretty bad, it looked dark, and most of the time it was hard to focus.
Persues's main motivation was revenge (yawn) rather than trying to save the woman he loves.

Im not going to comment on the CGI. If the other elements of the film weren't up to par, then good or bad CGI doesn't really matter .

I could have forgiven bad FX if the rest of the elements saved the film, but that was not the case here.
THe movie felt like the cliff's notes for CLash of the TItans.

Very well described, Darth.

And for an action movie it lacks an "Eff Yeah!" moment. At no point during the film did I think "Eff Yeah!" to what was happening. If you follow my meaning.

Neeson and Feines are always good...would have liked to had seen more of them in the film. And now I've got a bigger crush on Gemma Arterton. But like Darth describes, characters are introduced...they serve their small role in moving the movie to the next scene...and then they're tossed aside.

I feel it's a shame that the film isn't more than what it is...the elements are there for a grand and exciting epic. Alas.

I agree, this movie could have been something special. They could have taken the dated elements which from the original film and improved them (FX, updated the dialog a bit, etc). Instead they took it upon themselves to twist the original story (which was actually good) into a convoluted mess and tossed out everything that was great about the original characters.

When I first heard this film was being remade, I noticed that Lawrence Kasdan was penning the script. Which really got me excited. Then a few months later Kasden was no longer attached to the film. I'm still wondering what this film might have been like if Kasdan had done the script.

Oh well.

Agreed. THis is what happens when there's no buildup in the action, and you don't care about the characters.

We are actualy watching the 1981 version right now. I told my 14yrold step daughter that if she wanted to see the movie she had to watch the original. The wife has never seen it so she's having fun. I am looking forward to seeing the remake tomorrow.

wait until it comes out on dvd..I just got back afew minutes ago and it was very disappointing..I guess 2010 is filled with mediocre movies..Alice than this..I had no expectations..And it was very boring..there was no substance..

darth saber nailed it..

also, They should have left the owl in it..

I knew it was going to tank. This was one that should have been " DIRECT TO VIDEO" , I was actually going to pay money for this one in the beginning, something I hadn't done in years for a movie. Now I'll just burn it next week and watch it on the small screen.

we had to know it was going to suck...I'll have to watch the original again to clean my pallet after

I'm a big fan of the original movie and I saw this new one yesterday, in 2-D. I thought it was pretty fun. Some cool stuff, not bad effects (especially Pegasus) and seeing all the gods and so on was cool too. Maybe not the best film ever, but I felt I got my $5.00 worth out of it. I did want more Bubo though. The action was a bit too frantic at some point (like the scorpion scene) but overall again, I was ok with the movie.

Saw this last night. Pretty much exactly what I was expecting. Big, exciting, lots of cool action, but doesn't really hold up against the original. My friends and I are going to watch the original today or tomorrow. :)

From everything I've heard, don't bother with the 3D. The film and all the VFX were produced in 2D, then it was outsourced at the last minute to "convert" it to 3D in a vain attempt to jump on the Avatar cash cow.

Warning ahead of time: They're doing the same thing with the new Potter films. Shot entirely in 2D, then converted. I'm not bothering with 3D unless the film was originally intended and produced that way.

one thing I can't stand is any movie released as 3D which wasn't shot or filmed with 3d in mind.

avatar was
ghosts of the abyss (also james cameron incidentally)

were and it shows
with lots of good elements to be seen in 3D

clash of the titans wasn't
neither was alice in wonderland

and 3D adds nothing to them as a result

4/10 at best, as already said you just dont really care about anything thats happening. The original is a classic, the remake is just poo!

i was a little confused about how the scorpions go from being made from the blood of Calibos by Hades, to randomly being local beasts of burden for the locals, like theyre a common animal...

Watched this earlier and was generally bored throughout. Nieson and Fiennes where about the best things in it. And I gotta say I'm really getting bored with Sam "One Dimensional" Worthington these days aswell.
