Chronicle / Efx Mandalorian prop replicas

I'm confident these helmets will be shipped to customers within the next few months. For the Scout helmet, did they show a factory produced helmet years before they shipped any to customers? If we did not see the factory produced Mandalorian helmet in the video, I would be more concerned.

it is officially sold out now

That was fast since they unboxed the sample. According to the video preview of last week they still had 200 spots left at that time.

Apples and oranges. Different helmets

Again, the delivery is all that matters. The fact ANOVOS BEAT THEM is hard. For a lot of different reasons. Mostly because ANOVOS has a HORRIBLE reputation for actually getting something delivered.

Hopefully the “end of February” will see Chronicle\eFX deliver as well. I am starting to hate things made in China.

No. They had their sample at cons, though. And it was vacuumformed. So people thought this is what they were going to get.

DELAY IN PRODUCTION IN CHINA
As all of you know by now, everyone is running into production/shipping issues in China due to the coronavirus concerns. Most factories are not in full production since Chinese New Years, since the government is not allowing factories to re-open. Also, shipping anything out of China is presenting a problem. We are working with the factory to complete the projects in process and then ship as soon as the government allows. We apologize for any inconvenience! Thank you.

Welp! That's a convenient excuse for a delay from EFX. At one point in December or early January, they posted a photo with a boatload of buckets already painted. They're probably ecstatic China is giving them a legit excuse to drag their feet.

And yet I was told by Chronicle that ALL 750 Mandalorian helmets had left China in January of this year.

Well, I wouldn’t interpret that comment in that way. Sounds like that was the best info they had at the moment. They’re just the distributor, right? Don’t they rely on what the maker tells them?

FWIW, I just tried to order some paintball equipment and was told there are big backlogs of orders, because nothing is getting out of China right now due to Coronavirus, so this is a thing. Whether it genuinely applies to EFX is another thing....

Just had an email update from EFX and they provided a photo of their ‘production sample’. Trouble is it looks nothing like the helmet from the unboxing video. It also appears they are using a silver base coat which seems strange.

I’m no chrome expert by any stretch, but folks who are more knowledgeable than myself can chime in, silver base coat and what looks like a candy type black over that.

I brought this up the other day over on the Dented Helmet forum. It looks to me like they are cheating it from four coats of paint down to two. Instead of a black base, clear, chrome, and clear, they’ve knocked it down to a silver base and then a black candy clear.

While it makes sense to streamline production and I understand WHY they are doing it.. you’re paying over $700. Short-cuts this blatant and inaccurate shouldn’t be happening.

At this point you are almost certainly paying for the cast only, and are looking at an additional $300+ for repainting to have a piece that looks how it should have from the start.

The helmets on the last pic are looking not bad.But overall I have a bad feeling about it when they apply the brown stuff all over the helmet.
Hope its easy to remove if it looks bad...and without destroying the basepaintjob.

Exactly ^^ I thought they were proposing using the same paints and techniques as used by the costume props department, apparently not?
