Chronicle / Efx Mandalorian prop replicas

It's too bad EFX seems to be taking this route. A friend of mine got one of their Boba Fett helmets and said the paint job on it was stunning.
Well EFX is nothing if not inconsistent!

Is there a source where you can see what they exactly did with the studiohelmets? From what I know they are painted with Alumaluster Chromepaint.A very expensive paint. If EFX is not using exact this paint they cannot say they use same paint like the studio_Or the stunthelmet where not painted with Alumaluster...that would be a loophole for EFX. ;)

The stunt helmets were painted with Alumaluster. The only difference is the clear and base coat.

You, and many, are singling out one paint and giving it too much importance. Proper use of Alumaluster on its own is a 3-4 step process, depending on whether or not it gets sealed. It all has to work together, or none of it will. You can get a very similar finish with Alclad or other metal paints when used correctly. The end result is what matters.

Anovos, while they aren’t using Alumaluster, has a much more “accurate” process because they are going through all of the proper steps (in reference to the metal paint only, but the finish they achieved IMO is lackluster. They can’t seem to figure out that the black on the ears is matte paint over the clear.)

Yes..with alclad II I use only glossy black under the chrome and it works fine.On small parts I must say...never painted a complete helmet.
I really hope the EFX will not look too matt. That would ruin the look of the helmet.

Hi, I heard from a guy reviewing the Anovos Mando bucket that the efx might be delayed multiple years(?). I pre-ordered the efx through chronicle and I am considering throwing in the towel and just cancel my preorder to get the anovos one. I dont have the income to usually buy collectables at this price range. Would that be the right choice to make in your opinion?

I highly doubt it will be delayed multiple years. He’s probably just quoting what’s happened to some other products. my personal opinion is they will get this out before too long.

I don't think it'll be years like their Biker Scout helmet. ...Or Star Lord. ...Or Iron Man.

But seriously I don't think so given the pressure of how popular The Mandalorian is and that they've partnered with Chronicle so they have a stake in it. I'd be happy just ordering the Anovos as that's already available (not a sentence I would have expected to say about Anovos).

So one question for everyone is whether you’d prefer to receive the inaccurate painted version relatively soon, or have efx fix and properly repaint these helmets which would result in heavy delays?

I personally dont care if it is not painted with the same method as in the show. As long as it accurately replicates the look from the show. The quality of the images we have seen is not great so it might not represent the finished product. I remain cautiously optimistic.

Chronicle having a stake in it doesn't mean much either (from the guy who preordered Jurassic Park goggles that were supposed to ship a year ago.)

EFX has more pressure on them for this product, but I still wouldn't spend a penny on anything from them (or Anovos really) unless it was in stock somewhere. I just don't trust that anything will ever be shipped timely by them. I'd like to think the COVID outbreak is all that delayed shipment of this helmet, but I just can't bring myself to believe that. I'd be willing to bet dollars to donuts if none of that ever happened we'd still be in this thread asking when they were going to ship.

anyone getting theirs yet? Looks like some are in the wild and looks like the ears are...off.

Taken off of fb page from a customer, apologies if you're also a member here but just needed to see what people think. I don't think they are supposed to look like that. I have one on order and this is making me regret it.

* Thanks for Mr. Mold Maker's correction! Tracked the photos down on facebook to a group closer and looks like some helmets are getting out but the ear issue was not one of the efx. Thankfully.

Here are shots from the group

(Photo I was referring to was deleted above..)

That is not the EFX helmet, that is a helmet coming from the DO3D files. Quite possibly the Sean Bradley cast finished by Artisan FX. I’ve had one here for finishing myself and there is no mistaking it.

Thank you for the correction! I had a contact from my group on fb message me the photos and got massively concerned, glad its not that. There are more shots floating on fb now as I posted above, I would imagine these are legit? Had no notice from chronicles that they were shipping already.

so are these going out without any notice?anyone else in the group get theres and are there any issues? From the scout lids with the gap and face closing issues, the dome rub on the vader helmets, I'm hoping these are coming out with no issues.

Hoping there will be some notice as mine is due to be shipping to my workplace, which is still closed due to Covid-19 and if they’ve dispatched it already then I won’t be able to change the shipping address, awesome.

I have the same issue, I've reached out but no response from customer service thus far
