Chronicle / Efx Mandalorian prop replicas

I ordered in November, so waiting to see where I fall in the order list.

I placed my order on October 4th through EFX. ...got a big smile on my face right now.

As soon as I get it, I'll be popping some photos with a Nikon D750 and the Zeiss 100mm Makro Planar, and posting them straight away. Should get a good sense of detail and color. Gonna have to figure out the lighting on this thing though.

...A lot of discussion happening on Facebook groups with the inaccurate color/painting/it's too dark/It's not Alumaluster paint happening right now - based off of those photos captured in a living room with crappy incandescent lighting...

Yep paid for mine in Nov time frame and the last rep i contacted via email. I will get an invoice from Paypal asking to pay for the remaining amount for shipping based on my address and zip code. Basically like many who ordered from Chronicle Collectible for EFX Version waiting on an invoice from Paypal. Depending on what wave your helmet is in.

It's the same people who either didn't get a chance to preorder (750 edition), hate eFx/Anovos or don't know what they're talking about.

Don’t be silly. They’re experts in their field. I mean. One of them is a photographer, and studio lighting guy. And they tried every kind of light, and lighting technique, and it’s just too dark. ...but they never posted the examples of all they work they put in under different lighting scenarios. Just the crappy incandescent lighting in the living room with the blinds drawn shut. [emoji38]

They’re probably saving their better photos for themselves. [emoji849]

That is the way of the prop world, never release any info that will help others, other than your friends. :)

It’s always like this with the first fan in-hand photos.

Cycle:

1. “Pre-order secured. Yes!”
2. Waiting.
3. [First in-hand photos emerge] “I see x, y, z wrong with it. Canceling!”
4. More photos emerge and product looks great. (Secretly) “Ordering again!”
5. Waitlisted. D’oh!

I will be the very first in line when it comes to being critical of EFX. However.. this ain’t it. That is a gorgeous finish no matter what paint was used, and this talk about “too dark” or “too bright” really needs to just die.

If all of the helmets come looking like that? It’s a home run for EFX, in my opinion.

Would I have liked to have seen the helmets Alumalustered? Of course, especially at the price point these are offered at.. (and man, did that factory photo have me worried)... but they got there in the end and that’s what counts.

...However, they're also a business and need to earn a profit to pay their staff, their production, materials and facilities overhead, and their own income - plus sales and use taxes. So if they can create a beautiful helmet without using Alumaluster, and it looks like this...

...I'm A-OK! In fact. I'll be more than A-OK! I'll be ecstatic. :p

Yes, I agree with you. That’s exactly what I was saying, and what I said on the other page when I said people are really overstating the importance of Alumaluster. It’s not some magic paint, it is a system that takes a lot of R&D and practice. The end result is what matters. If all the helmets look similar to this? It will be perfect.

That said, I am already booked to repaint two helmets with Alumaluster and I’ll be happy to do comparisons if both follow through and come in at the same time.

That would be excellent. I'd love to see a side-by-side comparison of the EFX painting with your Alumaluster painting. ...Might help me decide if I want to ship you my helmet for a repainting.

Someone on the Dented Helmet made some screen grabs Chronicle's still images of the Mando helmet from the video I posted above. But the white balance of the still images was pretty awful.

I played with it a bit, took out some magenta, red and yellow, and voila! This should give a better idea of what we might get. ...and really, without seeing the helmet in my hands, it's impossible for me to perfectly match the color - but... this is better than the high magenta images we were seeing.

And no. I couldn't figure out the front. I have no idea what was going on with that image - but it's a white balance mess. ...so this is what you get. ;)

And like I mentioned above - if my helmet looks like this, I'll be fantastically happy.
