Chronicle / Efx Mandalorian prop replicas

The lighting is so bad it doesn’t matter.

...How anyone can come to some form of conclusion based on these 5 photos is beyond me.

Just received my shipment notice. Supposed to arrive by EOD, June 25th.

This will surprise me if it happens. But... fingers crossed.

I was thinking the same thing and I am praying you are right because it looks terrible in these pics.

After taking another look at the video, I’ll have to agree with everyone that the weathering is way excessive. Well, maybe the weathering will be screen accurate for season 2 if Din never cleans off his helmet.

There should barely be any weathering.

Cheeks are close to being pristine in this photo. Weathering is there but its very light.

Since Anovos and efx both have extra weathering, I wonder if the sample they were told to go by has more weathering than most of the helmets seen on screen.

From what I have heard about other licensed items, it sounds like the company is sometimes told to make items certain specific ways for the product to be approved by the license holder.

They must be going for this look...

There were times when he was pretty dirty, must depend on which episode you're going to reference.

That weathering certainly looks closer to the Anovos and efx helmets than most of the shots in the show. It's unfortunate they made a version that isn't what is most commonly shown in the show.

JBReplicas sent this my way so thanks to him. Since I didn’t see it in the thread I thought I would drop it in. No comment beyond that..

I love the geometry of the helmet and in that respect I think it’s a slightly more accurate bucket than the Anovos version.
The metallic/base paintjob is pretty good too, and captures the ambient lighting quite nicely. I’m less concerned by the darker tone of the paint than by what appears to be either cracks or scratches to the clear coat. The weathering is unbelievably flat and gives out a toy like vibe, which for 700 bucks is pretty bad. The material used for the visor doesn’t seem much better than what you would find on the Black Series Fett helmet.

I thinks it’s funny that, given the access they had, neither Anovos nor EFX seemed to reach the level of accuracy/quality found in the higher end fan made helmets out there.

Just checked tracking info before going to bed. The helmet has finally shipped and scheduled to arrive on June 24th. Some folks here in the first wave may also end up showing their helmets have also shipped (y)

Are you on the East or West coast?

I’m on the shores of Lake Michigan. So dead center dude. [emoji38]

Weathering aside, this makes the helmet look infinitely lighter than dark pics we see on the SW Helmet Collectors FB Group.

Imagine that. Lighting makes a difference. [emoji38]

Will be interesting to see how this helmet looks displayed. ...or will I be shipping it to you for an accurate paint up? [emoji6]

Heads up to anyone who is in the UK waiting for these, I’ve just been hit with an additional import charge of £126.16 ($150) on top of the $120 I already paid for shipping...this helmet better blow my socks off when I unbox it...

Isn't it still standard practice to use far more weathering than needed on Hero props just because it gets knocked down do much once on film? I know we got some crazy 4k stuff these days but I can certainly speak to this myself seeing with professional photos of my own 1313 inspired build where most of the weathering for whatever reason just doesn't really pop like you'd think it would, especially on the reflective surfaces.
It's one of the reasons I think the ESB Fett armor plates were far more intricately painted and weathered than we'll probably ever really know

The weathering on the cheeks is so bad. That's so far my only major gripe from what we've seen of it. As far as positives go, the visor is much darker than the Anovos, the interior liner is better applied (based on the Asian unboxing), and the ears aren't flared at least on these early ones.
