Hello! I recently got a Captain Phasma casting and I have no idea how to prep and chrome paint it. Is there a cheaper way i would be able to prep and paint this without buying an airgun/spray? It's going to be handled a lot so durability is important as well. Please and Thank you

For mine, I've been getting good results with Spaz Stix Mirror Chrome: LINK It's pretty good, but you'll need to apply a clearcoat over it if you plan on handling it a lot.

If you want an even shinier finish, there's also Alsa Corporation's ChromeFX kit: LINK. It's a silver nitrate deposition system that leaves a thin layer of metal over the whole surface. The kit also includes a clearcoat which you'll need to apply in order to prevent the finish from tarnishing.

Finally, I've also tried Krylon's Looking Glass: LINK. It's not quite as bright as the other two, but makes a decent finish without a clearcoat.

Here's a pic of the three tests I did:

From left to right, these were finished with ChromeFX, Mirror Chrome, and Looking Glass.

I hope this helps.

Hey Shawn, what clearcoat do you recommend for the Spaz Stix?

I've been using Nason Selectclear from my local automotive paint supplier. There's probably a better option out there, but a urethane clearcoat has a minimum amount of solvents that would eat the chrome.
