Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Pre-release)

Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

I'm still bummed they felt the need to rush Cap to modern times just so they could stick him in the avengers cash machine. They could have made movies of him slapping around Nazis into a trilogy as far as I'm concerned, climaxing with him punching out hitler.

The whole point of Captain America (at least in the Ultimate Marvel Universe, which the movies are based on) is to have him be a man out of time. He's the quintessential American Hero, a paragon of American values thrown into a time period where those values have been eroded. He is a man with 1940's ideals and thought processes tossed into a much more complicated time. His story is not so much how he fights and overcomes odds, but how he copes with the every day things in a world that left him behind. Think about it. He went into stasis in the 1940's. He missed everything for the last 70+ years, from color television to automatic doors to the computer to jet aircraft to thermonuclear weapons. He's got a lot of catching up to do, and THAT is where his story lies.

Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

So they're casting Sharon Carter AND Crossbones??? Could this mean they're also throwing the Death of Cap story line in???? I really hope not. I think I'm remembering the story correctly, but I won't spoil it for anyone.

Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

I really wish they would use this movie to establish Cap in modern times rather than jumping straight into The Winter Soldier.

I am still pretty optimistic about it.

The Cap movie (none of the Marvel movies) have been based on the Ultimate Marvel series.

The Marvel movies have been most definitely their own thing. Are there aspects of the Ultimate universe incorporated in the Marvel films? Yes... but there's just as much, if not more from any era of the Marvel comic.

Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

The French site says that Neal McDonough will be in it. Looks like Dum Dum Dugan will be back in action! Thank you continuity!

Crossbones was around long before that storyline, so I don't think they HAVE to do that.

Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Those are concept art for the Marvel NOW Cap costume, not the new movie suit.

I do believe Marvel Studios will bridge the gap between the new comics and their films in character design but to say that's concept art for the film is misleading.

Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Casting call for Agent 13? I thought that was the lady who was there when Cap woke up at the end of First Avenger? Or is there a "recast" lol

Right now (according to IMDB's CA: The Winter Soldier entry), Mary Elizabeth Winstead is rumored to have been cast as Agent 13/Sharon Carter.

Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Crossbones is a long time villian in Capt comics. He's a pretty ruthless bad guy so it might be interesting.

yes it even says that its the comic look in the first reply on the french page ;)

Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Cleveland? Cool. I might have to drive up and spy on the filming. :)

Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

I agree with all of this. I can understand why Marvel thought it was wise to rush the Avengers. Phase 1 was 4 years in the making with years and years of planning before that. As the Avengers cam out, Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 were already filming. I think that the way Cap was in the Avengers was different, but I liked it better than the Cap on Marvel's Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is an interesting concept, and if they do what I think they're going to do, there wil FOR SURE be some flashbacks and sequences from WW2 worked into it. They just need to find a balance.

^This. If anyone watched The Avengers deleted scenes, they had a few clips of Cap wandering the streets feeling out of place (not to mention
a scene that ties Chrissie Seaver into the movie better)
. I'd like to see more of that kind of stuff in Cap 2, before all the mandatory action comes into play.

Ya me too. I was bummed that so much was cut out of Steve trying to adapt. But I'm sure they will focus on that in CA2

"Roger Wardell @RogerWardell

Inside News: Captain America 2 will feature flashbacks of Black Widow's past and her complicated relationship with the Winter Soldier."

Re: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

I can't wait to see some Black Widow flashbacks, and I think it'll be nice to finally see Cap in present day times (in his own movie)...
