Can't find Tony Stark's sunglasses from Iron Man 3

I'm busy investigating my theory that they could possibly be the Warby Parker Eaton 328 (tree swallow fade) 52□20 142 with custom very light blue lenses, but I need to do a bit more digging.

Unfortunately, I don't go off tint percentage, as my lenses are just DIY, so it's a lot less technical than that!!
I just stock up on loads of cheap donors and go in my lenses box to find the nearest looking tint and that's as scientific as it gets!!

I find a selection of lenses with the closest looking tint, lie them all out on white paper and then pick the best pair to use. The mathematics are replaced by an ocular best guess..Lol

I will say that although it was a while ago now (and can't be 100% sure on this), but the donors I used don't look too far off from the very light peach that I used on my Paul Smith Waltons from p.255...

If I was to hazard a guess, I would say a lot less than 25% on the SL572, especially when you look at this pic...

Hope this helps :)
You must have a boat load of donor lenses! I would argue they would have to be 15/20%. Some tints are more potent than others I have found. By DIY do you mean your cutting the donor lenses yourself as well or just using them as a reference? I got lucky and can get mine made for a killer bargain. Also peach is a good description

Yes, I precision Dremel cut the donor lenses myself, then hand finish and highly polish the lens edges.
After years of practice with hundreds of frames, developing, adapting and enhancing the craft, I kinda now have the entire procedure down to a fine art.

Born out of necessity, my self-taught skills have saved not only stacks of money, considering an average of only $5 per set of donor custom made lenses across hundreds of frames, but saved time as well, with an average 35 minute turnaround from receiving new frames in the post, to getting a set of custom lenses straight in.

I think this home-made and self-invented skill is exceptionally unique, as it doesn’t exist anywhere on the internet.
Sake is the only other person I know of with this skill. (y)

This is the RPF after all, where things you see in movies and TV shows inspire you to get creative and figure out how to make your own DIY versions!!

Carrera arrived, this model actually feels quite solid, a more sturdy feeling than the other 2 frames I have. Absolutely no regrets at $54 shipped, and there's more if you guys need them.

suddenly an initium sale shows up in the mail at the right moment, but maybe I'll try with some less famous frame this time

Funny you mentioned Initium, I was just going to say, what on earth has happened to the Superunknown...

The new versions seem to have lost all of their famous angular shape. The squareness is all gone and we now have what almost looks like a halfway hybrid frame between the OG Superunknown and the London Calling.

All in is also a completely different pair of sunglasses than the first edition. Must be renamed. The Red Havana London Calling also looks completely different to me.

Russell Crowe wearing Initium Cocktail in Land of Bad (out Feb 16th). These were sold to Rusty by the Australian distributor for Initium. Apparently he bought 5 pairs with various lense options. The trailer has him wearing the gold frame version with clear AR lenses and the stock sunglass lense.

Plus, I realised I already had these covered as they were sitting in my "RDJ frame ID file", he wore these way back on April 17th 2015 in one of his IG posts...

These are another pair of Dolce & Gabbana DG 3195 (51□20 145), but the 2829 in the brushed camel colourway, with custom gradient grey top into clear lower lenses...;)

This is to be my last post ID'ing frames on the main thread.
I've recently finished the ID'ing backlog of frames in my "RDJ frame ID file", it's eventually completed and up to date.

However, I'll still keep my hand in and be active on this awesome thread.

A big and massive heartfelt thank you to the handful of courteous and kind members who've supported me over the years with your regular "likes" and kind acknowledgement.
It has been your regular and consistent appreciation of my posts that has literally made all the difference - I'll be in touch privately soon.

Appreciation is one of life's greatest motivators, which brings me to this simple but touchingly apt quote...

"A person who feels appreciated will always do more than is expected".
