Can't find Tony Stark's sunglasses from Iron Man 3

Speaking of bargains, just received these 52mm Matsuda which I snapped up within seconds of them getting listed at $150 shipped! They even still had the box, case, pamphlet, and cleaning cloth.

I scored another pair of Iron Man 2 Initium All-In AI-006, but these are brand new!!

Finding a brand spanking new pair of AI-006 was too rare to pass up, they were still sealed (nosepads and temple tips still 100% clear) with original case, cloth, paperwork and outer presentation box with model info. sticker.
Rare brand new, as they've got to be getting on for being over 12 years old now...

I've compared the new pair with my other pair of AI-006 (which have the age related yellowing on the nosepads and temple tips :()...

20230220_103303.jpg

The 5 main noticeable differences on my new pair (pictured top) versus my first pair (pictured below) are:

1: The hinges aren't sprung, which really does point to an earlier frame before that modification was added...
20230220_103421.jpg

2: The Initium arm "bulge" detail has an "I" for Initium, as opposed to the "+" or "t" logo on my first pair...
20230220_103505.jpg

3: The Initium font logo is different on the left arm...
20230220_103619.jpg

(I searched around a bit and found 2 old/very early advertisements when the "I" logo was used in the branding)...
20230105_094806.jpg 20230105_094844.jpg

4: The bridge top Initium font logo is different...
20230220_103539.jpg

5: The nose pads are rounder and smaller...
20230220_103359.jpg

The brand new pair I'm assuming are even earlier versions than my first pair, the initial main giveaways being the nose pads and early case and box.

Now I thought I recognized those small nosepads...
20230220_103556.jpg
...So pulled out an old Initium frame for inspection.
These round nosepads are the same as used on the old Initium Nighttown, so it follows that these All-In's must be a very early released frame...
20230220_103818.jpg
20230220_103908.jpg

However, the Nighttown notably, does have sprung hinges and the newer "+" Initium logo on the arm, further adding to my theory that my new AI-006 might be even earlier than the Nighttown...
20230220_103858.jpg

20230220_103841.jpg

I'm sure Sake said a while back that he also had another early AI-006 variant too (I think with sprung hinges) with the "All-In" displayed on the arm in that "old London" or "medieval/gothic" font, the same as the original London Calling...
20230220_110431.jpg

So now we are up to 3 variants of the original AI-006, which at first glance initially, all seem to be the same pair of original silver All-In's.

So I'm now wondering exactly which AI-006 are in Iron Man 2?

This definitely warrants further investigation, although the problem being, even with 4K and HQ IM2 movie screen grabs, it's unlikely to reveal those small differences in the AI-006 details that are in question.

Well so far, I have a 66.667% chance of having the correct screen used pair!! Lol.

still in stock? i'm looking at the yellow ones :)

If it's the yellow Polaroid PLS 6115/S 40G/HE that you are looking for, try here... ;)

Limited stock left at Selectspecs and only 1 left in stock at Smartbuyglasses though!!

私の仮説では、ブリッジは徐々に現在のモデルに移行しています。左テンプルアームのイニシウムの刻印は実際のフレームには見当たりません。

This one is so rare and enigmatic!

My hypothesis is that bridges are gradually moving to the current model. The initium engraving on the left temple arm is not found on the actual frame.
View attachment 1671836View attachment 1671837View attachment 1671838

So 3 different versions of bridge, all with variations in the triangle sections.

Both of my AI-006 have "type 2" bridge sections.

My latest found version...
20230220_125249.jpg

My first pair version...
20230220_125341.jpg

(Not sure why my phone's camera shows the grey gradient lenses in this color!!).

To me, it looks like the triangle sections "taper outwards" on the movie image when they meet the frame, like type 2, as opposed to straight up and down like type 1.

20230220_130610.jpg

20230220_131201.jpg

Type 3 has the larger more fatter triangle sections found on the latest versions of All-In frames...
20230220_131354.jpg

I think so. However, judging from the lack of engraving on the left temple arm, the thinness of the bridge, and the high-resolution photos, I think it may be Type 1.

Still looks like the thin triangle type 2 bridge that tapers IMO - (or at least the shadow tapers where it meets the frame). Quite prominent in this first pic...

I'm going to need much better images to see if that blurred area is a logo...

I got this shot to try and ID the nosepads, but it's inconclusive...
20221229_115645.jpg

Not sure if it was the exact same pair that was repeatedly used in the Senate scene, race track scene and ending scene, but I would have thought, as a standard back up measure, the wardrobe dept. (or Initium themselves) would have had more than only 1 pair of AI-006 on set.
This could throw even more variation into the mix, the possibility of slightly different AI-006 versions in the 3 separate scenes.

One thing though, I think I can eliminate the AI-006 that I've just bought from appearing in this scene, as this screen grab proves that whatever they are, they aren't a version with unsprung hinges...
20230220_153002.jpg
20230220_153040.jpg

My "just bought" earlier versions with standard hinges don't open past 90°, so for the Senate scene at least, they can definitely be ruled out.

I've never put on a pair of All-In (or any sprung hinged expensive sunglasses) like that in my life!! o_O - Talk about manhandling an expensive frame, I can almost hear the spring snapping noise from here!! Lol.

I also do see what you mean, type 3 (the latest version All-Ins) as well as having a different (thicker triangle) top bar, also have a different lens shape in the top corners, it's shorter and less rounded like 1 and 2...

20230220_160256.jpg

Just to think I was blissfully unaware, happy and content with my very first pair of AI-006, I wish that I'd never looked deeper into it now!! LOL.

Dude…I’m over here hand sanding a gunmetal grey pair because I couldn’t find the polished aluminum! Crazy good find!
