Can't find Tony Stark's sunglasses from Iron Man 3

Initium messaged me last night saying my order was going out and also sent me pics of the 3000s I ordered. The movie style has the guitar pics on them instead of the normal skull tips. Apparently they only did this for 25 pairs of the total made in the movie colour. I also caved and bought another pair of All-In in the new Hot Rod Red colour that was discounted for pre-order customers. Apparently this style was used in the upcoming Disney+ Marvel shows...

It might be the lighting on your pic, but the red havana movie version lenses look a lot darker than advertised.

Alarmingly, your pic also seems to show the size on them at 60□16 142.
It looks more like a "60" on the arm than a "62".
Bromleys are 62□16 138.

I hope I'm wrong with what I'm seeing!

If they are indeed "60s", then there must be an "oversize" option available for 62's, or they are going to be too small.

It may just be that the pic was the version before the extra amendments and hinge adjustments were made.

The 3000's may have been made in two sizes (60&62) similar to the Concept 2's, firstly only available in 59mm and then later in accurate "oversize" (Roy Tower movie correct) 61mm.

I'd say it's defintely the lighting.

No they're definitely 60□16 142. I was talking to Jason about them while they were in production and I commented about how the Bromley's looked huge on RDJ and he said they reduced the size for the 3000s. And the above pics of the 3000s are what's being shipped to me as we type.

Maybe they might do an oversized option down the track if the demand is there? Time will tell, I guess.

So they are too small!

Looks that way, mate...
Man that sucks!!

I held off from pre-ordering any 3000's, because the same thing happened with the Concept 2's.
I also waited on the fence for the Concept's to see how they turned out first, then ordered only when the gunmetal color was made right and the size re-done to 61mm.

It might seem like 2mm difference is neither here nor there, but it does change the overall look quite a lot.

As an example, here are my Diors in 51mm & in 53mm.

As you can see the "2mm" is a big deal. The 51's actually fit inside of the 53's!!

I can honestly say in regard to my Dior's, that the 53's are like a totally different set of glasses to the 51's when worn.
At first when I only had 51's, I convinced myself that 2mm didn't mean a lot. I got some 53's and was proved completely wrong!

The 2mm difference will mean that the 3000's will more than likely fit inside of the Bromleys!!

I'll be waiting again then, for corrected "oversize" 62mm versions to hopefully be made!

I wish now, my eagle eye didn't spot the 60mm.
So near to Xmas, I feel really bad, almost like the "Grinch".

I got them today! I think they did a good job, the size is indeed 60 but they feel really big on my face, and I tend to have all the bigger versions of a frame when available. for instance, I have the oversize all in, or the matsuda in 57 and not in 52. well, when I first wore them I thought man these feel really big, I don't know if a bigger version would be too much maybe.

I don't know why he altered the sizing and made them smaller but I guess that's a small price to pay (no pun intended haha) because our only other option was $1325 on eBay plus the cost of replacement lenses.

guys, maybe try to see them in person but really, they're like the second biggest frame I own after these ones that are way bigger than anything a man could wear I guess :D

I almost bought the VFxRunDMC frames during their black Friday sale!

I love them, put them at a wedding some months ago and people seemed to like them too. my girlfriend didn't that much I'm afraid :D

end of ot, I got the movie version and the red ones, because I have a thing for red sunglasses frames. the lenses in the movie version have just a very soft light tint that can be seen a bit more when worn, the red ones have a grey-pink gradient lens that I think I'm going to wear a lot.

It is such a shame they were made smaller IMO, there was a real missed opportunity here to "nail" these re-creations.

I think real Bromley's are not overly massive, just a larger bold "statement/look at me" type of frame.
Perhaps the smaller size is intended to appeal to a broader spectrum (to sell more maybe), who knows?

I would just prefer accurate for that price, but that's just me.

I guess it's all down to personal preference.:D
They do look great though BTW!

I understand your concerns and I'm totally with you about the sizes, I didn't know my face was this big until I started collecting sunglasses!

I would say it if I felt these were too small, anyway. in the pictures you posted above there's a lot of difference between those two frames because one is 51mm, but in this case we have a 60, I don't think 61 would make a big difference, but until one of us that has both these ones and the originals to make a comparison we have to wait. to add another example, I have a 52 matsuda that look really small when put next to the 57, but we're talking about small sizes in fact. these recreations are already big enough, imo obviously.

I think possibly that the size, color discrepancy, and gap between the temples, all have to do initium trying to avoid copyright infringement

Yeah, I think you may be right.
The "changes" may have been the legal loophole and the only way to get the re-creations done.
Don't get me wrong, I'm 100% grateful the 3000's even exist, just a bit disappointed.
