Can't find Tony Stark's sunglasses from Iron Man 3

Also, a different frame, but with the same 1336 color code, from the 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards 12th January 2014...

I think these are Oliver Peoples Meier OV5265 1336 black to grey gradient frame (51□18 145) with light grey custom lenses...;)

I've just ordered the "correct" Giorgio Armani AR7019K-5017 Garconne in black.

I mistakenly bought the Giorgio Armani AR7019-K5147, which is a dark blue a while ago. I like them but I have always preferred the black - it's niggled me ever since!

Does anyone know if I can straight swap the yellow lenses from the 5147 into the 5017 when they arrive?

Nice find on the 5017!! :D(y)

I think providing they are both the same size (Bear in mind the AR7019 come in both 52mm & 54mm) they should swap straight over, despite being different color frames.

I will say though, that I have had only one instance where this didn't work with 2 pairs of identical size (but different color) Paul Smith Cortland's.
One pair had slightly larger lenses for some reason and just refused to swap over.
So I have a pair of movie PS Cortland with stock blue lenses that aren't interchangeable with my grey framed versions.

I think this is just because the light grey versions are an earlier version with temple dots instead of the Paul Smith signature in the arms.

Give the 5147/5017 swap over a go, if they don't want to go in, it should become immediately obvious.

Have to give a shout out to UV400, his guide to authentic Carrera came in handy when I found these in Spain (maybe my 3rd frame out of Spain).
The lack of metal inside makes these weirdly light and flexible to me, it's kind of bizarre how odd that feels to me.

And I found Copters in Antique Gold. Mulling a semi-crazy idea... polished titanium is silver. One could conceivably polish the gold finish off to achieve a silver color...

I do have a vibratory tumbler and soft fine media, as well as ultra fine polishing cloths (8000 grit). I can totally reach a mirror finish with some labor...

The top bar isn't quite visible, but it looks like they could be the Smoke x Mirrors Geo 3 again...

On this latest post, here's the image in much better quality, this time clearly showing the top bar and confirming they are the Smoke x Mirrors Geo III ;)
Looks like there's a good chance they'll be making an appearance in the documentary itself...

At least they're a cheap brand, so easy to get lol.

So apparently there are two sizes of OP Corsair!
The right pair is about 2mm less maybe 3 in lens width.

Are the indicated sizes on the arms the same on both pairs?

It's just I'm hoping my versions (58□15 140) are the largest of the two.

The text has worn away on both. This is the smaller...lens i got 57mm not including what's inside the frame grooves. +1mm seems reasonable. The larger one the lens looks like 60mm. There is 4mm difference in total frame width between the two.

Thank you for this, much appreciated :)

So I've done a bit of further investigating on the 2 sizes.

I can confirm these are:
58□15 140
61□13 140

Strange as 3mm is gained in the larger lens size, but 2mm is lost in the bridge width.

I found this in a listing which confirms the exact size of the larger versions...

You can see the size indicated on the arm...

So the next question up for debate is, which size pair are in IM1??

Great, so regardless if the IM1 screen accurate versions are 58mm or not, now I also want a pair of 61mm with red lenses!! o_O

Dude must be running out of new eyewear!! Lol

It's the easy way to go green!!

Well cellulose acetate is a renewable resource based material, being made from plant fiber, not petroleum. One of the 2nd generation attempts to replace horn and amber.

I strongly suspect the idea was to create a material similar to nitrocellulose but less enthusiastically flammable. I've had chunks of nitrocellulose leftover from musical instruments (about the only time you see it used now) and let me tell you, it burns blindingly fast. Next best thing to flash paper.

Well let's hope we don't come across any nitrocellulose frames!!!...o_O

If you signed up for emails from Kirk&Kirk check your inbox, they are selling some small numbers of discontinued or sample frames at a large discount. Some RDJ shapes albeit in different color included. I just ordered perhaps the last Carter in Pacific Blue.

Edit: no, there are carters left. Best price you're gonna get on these, pretty sure.

Can anyone tell me the correct frame colour code ( the silver version) for the Rayban 3320 as seen in IM1?

No problem!! :)

The correct frame (satin silver) is either from the 042/8z...
20221111_223226.jpg

or the 042/8g...
20221111_223211.jpg

I have both pairs, and it's a common misconception that the 042/8z are the only correct pair. The stock 042/8z brown lenses actually have a slight coating of mirror gradient on them. (This mirror coating began to degrade and come off on my pair of 8z).

The movie lenses are actually custom "solid" light brown anyway, so essentially either of the satin silver frames will do.

The "actual" IM used frames may also be either the 8z or 8g.
