Building the Sandcrawler

This is beautiful.. looks just right aswell..

Thank you very much. Ollie~!

Your SC is flawless.:thumbsup
Initially, my plan to build the SC was inspired by your good job.

thanks Eric.

Ckwanwoo, I have to say I like yours better . Original kit parts , little casting, excellent planning and execution . Yours is inspiring me to start mine and follow in your footsteps.

Hey James,

Thanks for your kind word :)
How do you think about your modeling-life in South Korea?

My country don't have a good condition to make the SS model...IMO.

On the other hand, I added the light up for Cockpit.
Addtionally, I attach lots of pics under various illumination conditions.

Lastly, I unexpectedly found one of mystery parts from Airfix Harrow Locomotive. :)

thanks Eric.

Eric , no so much here. Going to be here until Sept./Oct depending on the project. Just been able to get kits started going to America and small ones here for size reference. Not much to show yet but lots of planning . Going to start a research/build thread soon to get input on kit lists and other things to help out. Will post my images of measurements to help others.

I am going through the idea of static vs. mobile like you did. Did they product a non-remote controlled sherman that could be used ?

-James

That looks BEAUTIFUL Eric!!! Incredible!

Just to answer your question James: yes, they make a static version of the sherman. Also, you can purchase most of the sprues from the kit separately directly from Tamiya. I did that to provide parts for a death star turret (which Eric generously helped with!).

thank you , that will help indeed

Thanks Scott :)

Yes. I also bought 4 sets of Tamiya sherman parts which is not full kit and just included track and wheel because the full kit is very very expensive.
I just needed some parts to build my SC.

thanks Eric.

Can you still get the vintage style track links? It seems they redesigned it and even though the new track is available in both plastic and metal it is totally different in design and appearance from the version ILM used on the studio model.

Charles,

I have to admit your comment...:cry
Actually, I used the new trak for my SC because the vintage track is very rare and also, is not sold separately.

I believe the styrene detail, which was added on the vintage track, will cover the different partly.

thanks Eric.

yes I found that out as well. I downloaded the instructions to find out what parts I need to buy. Yes the detail hide it so well . It doesn't take away from your build at all . One of the greatest builds I have ever seen on here.

I am building mine to be on a display platform so no real need for movement.

I hope to build one of these next season. I was lucky enough to get vintage track, though I am still roughly 50 links short of the total needed.

Eric's build has been a HUGE inspiration that has helped motivate me to restart this project. It is indeed a fantastic build! :)

I have seen them off/on ebay but needed 4 sets hurts that chance . Having jason potentially doing the sealab parts makes the sandcrawler within reach for everyone.

Hey Eric,

This looks nothing short of stunning! Great job.

Is this something you'll be casting and selling once you're done?

Thanks.

This thing is just sex to the eyes and I am talking the very good kind. Keep this thing up and once finished put it on the wall of fame my friend ;)
