You're over thinking things again. Not to say I wouldn't do the same thing of course.
When are you coming up?
So, book your ticket yet, Rob?
Still no flash allowed
I must have missed that. No flash?
if that is accurate and they're strict about it, that may be a deal breaker.
And Mike, yes - I do have pretty much all I need to complete the model. There are a few areas I could use some hi-res shots of (like the morth pole, and portions of the lower dome). But its not critical.
Rob good chat on the phone! The 24th is good for me. Let's hit this, I'll bring the beer!

It may or may not have happened, but that's how I like to imagine it...
Rob, after looking at the higher rez pic of the DS, I believe that is precisely what the pencil lines were used for..............to follow when cutting in the light points on the surface.
Dave
PS if you have the book: Modelling a Galaxy, there is a pullout of the laser dish that is labelled DeathStar II Superlaser.............that is not the DSII, that is a hi rez closeup of the DS 1 and it is in extremely good lighting showing the section that is typically in shadow. Just thought you would like to know.![]()
For creating the lights on the DS I always imagined the dream team at ILM killing a couple of cases of beer on a Friday afternoon sitting around the DS on stools pecking away at the beast with their exacto knives... swilling a brew in the other hand :thumbsup
