Waaaay back when this project started you said you were going to keep measurements. I'm pretty sure you took measurements of the dish placement, trench width etc., are you also keeping track of the "cityscape" as you build and paint it? It seesm that you're going through a hack of a lot of trouble to keep it as accurate to the original as possible, it seem's a shame to to record that as well.

Thank, one and all...

In the past month or two (in which I've been a bit quiet), I finished the darker area to the left of the dish, plus all the speclking going around to the back (its about 80% total coverage - more than the original).

Also, I totally reworked the arctic circle. I extended the radials by 5mm, increasing the total coverage of the circle. Plus, I shaved down the height of the radials, as they were out of scale. Regretablly, a few of them get TOO thin in areas -oh well. And I completly repainted it. I used Rust-O-Leums basic grey auto primer. Its got just a tad of a green hue to it, but I can live with it. Also, this time, I added speckling/grain to the circle; very fine though, so you can barely see it.

I had a couple plugs (where the screws attach the acrylic to the framework) to rework, and this is now done.

And I finally finished that last little bit right below the dish on the left.

I do still have LOTS of finessing to do on the grain. It is to coarse in many areas, and I simply have to go in and paint the largets 10% of the dots, and redo them with the marker, but smaller. Tedious, but the process works miracles.

Then all the lines and holes!

It feels "right". Still have a bit of work to do before it really "pops", but I'm liking it!

We'll see... I'm looking forward to the penciling. The lower dome will be a pain in the ass since the south pole is indefinite (not a single point to aim at since its on a tube), but I'll get it done.

Dave I think I'm going to save that for last. I'm actually surpirsed some knucklehead hasn't come in here and claimed - all high and lofty - "Hey you forgot to add the detail to the dish!" But you know, the guys that are following this project know this is a wokr in progress, and know "Thy will be done" before its all done.

I'm really looking forward to adding the concentric pencil circles onto the dish!
