Building a studio scale pod car

So I needed two perfect circles up on the top hull,
where the Morser Karl parts sit inside.I needed to
scribe them into the plastic not easy by hand, they had
to be pretty perfect or they were going to show like a
sore thumb!:lol:thumbsdown

I found a washer with a inside diameter I was happy
with, traced this onto the hull and then taped the washer
down. Next I found a nice sewing needle and tightened
it down in my pin vice, then it was just nice and easy until
the scribing got deep enough

Beauty!

:lol Thanks Rich

Now A little strip around the hulls.......

If I were going to do this again I would glue the strip
onto the lower hull pattern and then form it!!:angry
I think this would help in achieving that integrated look the strip
has on the filming mini.

Oh well to help the situation I chose the half round strip
I have seen these built with the flat strip, I prefer the half round
over flat because it doesn't jump out at you as much.

Oh I like the half round a lot more than the flat strip, good choice. It goes more with the rounded shape of the hull in my opinion.

Ya me to Rich best way to cheat this !!:lol

Time to mask off the pods and paint the tubs,
flat black will work just fine, later with a little
dry brushing I can get the details to pop on the
instrumentation.

Next step is called paint the damn pilot and jam him in tub for pics!!:lol
Some pics he has a flesh tone others he is looking resin grey, I painted his face after the outside pics. The Figures still need still need a good clean up and filling but I felt like playing around with them

Oh I almost forgot, looking at the filming mini pilots,
I noticed they had red or orange gloves......this was not going to
happen in my model!!!:lol Sorry I tried it couldn't deal with it real
pod car pilots sport black gloves!!:lol

I totally love that ship, one of my favourite quirky designs ! :thumbsup

Could the rear cover be part of a car model ? I thought it might be from a smaller car like a VW Beetle or a Fiat 500, but didn´t find anything.

Thanks, and yes it does Look V-dubbi'sh for sure!:lol
I think they may have just cut the shape from the rear of
a hull pull?

Oops sorry Michael I missed this one, I sent those parts to Coinprop. Hopefuly Isel is always here !

The color is top notch, a perfect match IMHO. I reckon I was not a fan of the design of this model but now I saw you built this one, I could change my mind !

:lol:thumbsup You should change your mind it's a very cool model
in person!! I like the shape and the fact you get two models really!:lol
Problem is you have to build two if you scratch-build it, but oh well no other way to do it!:thumbsup

I was surprised the refer orange dries a bit flatter than I thought,
but in the book I see some shots with the light and it looks flat! In other shots it looks a bit more glossy?:confused At this point I am not going to take a ship that is not that complicated to paint and make it complicated!!:lol:thumbsup

Thanks Guys,
Michael
