Building a studio scale pod car

Between you and Julien buddy, i think im really seeing the two best scratchbuilders on the planet throwing down big time.

Its all old school, hardcore and if you had your time again, and could go back to the late 70's, you guys would be in that very model shop, simple as, this is an amazing build!

You see when you get a comment like this from a guy you look up to,
it makes this hobby even more satisfying and enjoyable!:lol:thumbsup

Thanks Lee I know we would all have a spot in that shop!! Even if I had to
take out the trash I would get a few hard to find kits out of it for sure!!:lol

Regards,
Michael

Looking forward to your build!

Moved on to forming the bulges that sit on top of the canopy,
and the laser cannon wells.

Looks great! The gun tubes look like they must be difficult to resolve, but you make it look easy. Sorry if I missed it, but are you intending to light this? I'd love to see how you'd go about doing it.

Yeah the scribbing is sharp and clean.
That's trully a piece of art, that's some great craftmanship Michael !

Now I propose you to build a MonCal ship ! That's a good ship to be vacformed ! :D

Would you mind explaining the "Old Paper Trick"?

You put paper on your raised part then rub the paper with a pencil. You'll get darker lines at the edges of the parts so you just have to cut the paper, following the darker lines to get a perfect paper pattern of your part !
That's the kind of thing you do when you're a kid with a penny to recreate it on paper ! :D (at least that what I used to do when I was a kid :p)

Decided to weld in some strip styrene all the way around the inner wall
of the lower hull, this will allow for better welding of the top and bottom
hulls when the time comes. It basically created a 90deg angle so the top hull
won't slide off during welding, and it gives it another welding surface. The plastic is thick enough with out it at 2mm wide....but better safe than
sorry!:$

I will get the lower panel lines finished on Monday,
then get started on the lights.Hopefully I can have it lit
Tuesday or Wednesday.

Hear is something that is not easy again!!:lol:thumbsdown
Opening up the vents on the sides of the lower hulls......
%^&$^$#@()_)&*&%#@@!:angry

There is only 2mm of room I am carving into, and the plastic is 3mm
thick so it's a real chore! Don't want to risk it with the trusty dremel!:lol
