Taking me forever to finish it but yes i do want to cast it, even just for myself and if they is anyone who'd be interested, that would just be a bonus.
Thanks again

Re: Boba fett helmet pep build (my first build) WIP still...

I read this thread from start to finish, it was very interesting to see all the steps and work that's gone into the helmet.

The results are superb.
I have never tried pepakura but do feel inspired after reading This, maybe I'll give it a go sometime!

Re: Boba fett helmet pep build (my first build) WIP still...

Aww mate cracking job, as much as the navy paintjob was awesome, you cant beat a good old fashioned boba helmet. And yours is looking fantastic. The key slot idea worked out really well.

This is just a little bit of honest crit so I hope you dont mind. I didnt know why but from those shot you posted the helmet looked a little off in the visor area. Then looking at some of the reference shots I have I can see that youve gone a little to far across with the visor. I did a little photoshop of what I mean,

bobaedit.png

The red line on the first pic is where the visor currently end compared to where I think it should ends. The next pic is the unaltered photo.

I think if you altered this, it would change the whole look of the helmet to a much more accurate looking boba. Plus with the extra room it will allow you to paint the correct sized damage on in the corners. Other than that Its up to you mate, I think you have an amazing looking boba helmet regardless.

Re: Boba fett helmet pep build (my first build) WIP still...

Ive not noticed that but that can be easily corrected. Thanks for the heads up. I have been meaning to ask you about the lever/angles and stuff for the area under the ear . Ill just send you a pm. Hope thats okay. Since you have (by fault of your own) become my source of boba fett information.

Re: Boba fett helmet pep build (my first build) WIP still...

No problem mate, with the work youve done already little fixes and such like that should be a walk in the park for you. And like I said before, im happy to help so just fire away :D

Re: Boba fett helmet pep build (my first build) WIP still...

Awesome man! Looks great still!

still sticking with me Crank, thanks again hopefully i'll have more of a substantial update next week instead of showing my helmet is back to how it looked 2 months ago.

Re: Boba fett helmet pep build (my first build) WIP still...

Damn man I'm glad you are keeping up with this. I almost thought you were going to leave it with the navy colors errr colours.

I still think this looks damn amazing.

You actually have me debating hitting my garage tonight to pick bak up on my helmet. I haven't touched mine in months

Thank you. Incase you didnt read the navy colours were never going to be perm' they were always going be stripped off.
And yes get back in your garag. Your thread and fell to the bottom of my subs with the lack of a recent update.

Re: Boba fett helmet pep build (my first build) WIP still...

Man, you did an excellent job with your bucket...:):thumbsup

I'm glad you're in the painting stage... as for me, I haven't touched my IM helm again... too many things are getting in the way...:unsure

Terra1 is way ahead of us...:) (and he's back... finally)

You see, we (terra1, you & me) joined this forum and started each of our project almost at the same time... like we are batchmate or some kind...LOL

Actually I regarded you and terra1 as my classmates in this hobby... It always made me smile everytime I checked both of your projects...:)

Anyway, keep building man and keep in touch...

cheers!

P.S.
There is no point for me to make a storm trooper and boba fett bucket for myself... I'll just trade yours and terra1's... LOL:lol

"did a excellent job"? im no where near finished :) you should know that, there is always something to fix, change, correct, adjust.

if me you and terra are class mates im the slow kid in class since im still working on my master bucket and you and terra have already moulded yours, im catching up slowly now though.

update coming up next, and btw i'd be more than happy to trade my bucket for one of yours, im pretty sure you'd be getting the short end of that deal though :unsure

this time i'll post up the picture first (because if you're anything like me you looks at them first then read)

and a small description, cut the circle out, cut it down the middle, and now i had a lovely semi circle, taped the crap out of it to stop the filler sticking to it.
cut some MDF strips for the sides, taped them up.
fixed them all in place with.. blue tack :unsure, it worked though
applied filler, wait 15 minutes, remove sides, let dry and sand to level/shape.
currently only sanded down the (helmets) left side, still do to the side with the range finder on.
hopefully get it down next weekend.

then make some ears, buy a range finder and hey-presto, done!

all sounds so easy...

Re: Boba fett helmet pep build (my first build) WIP still...

Not to intrude on your creative process, but don't you think it would have been easier to do those with styrene, or even some sintra?

You probably have a good reason for doing it that way, just thought I would ask. Great job, can't wait to see it finished!

Re: Boba fett helmet pep build (my first build) WIP still...

The only styrene I've found near me is ridiculously expensive. Seriously, I went to by some 5mm at my local art shop and they wanted £17 !!! Put it straight back lol. Filler is pennies over here compared to it...well that's what I found any ways.

Looking great mate. The helmet gets better and better every time I look.
