Blue Beetle *WIP*

Figured I give the new board a test run.

JFcustom gave me some ideas about doing the blade as well as the cannon. So I'm doing the blade first.... :D

I printed off the image I wanted, drew it out, cut it out, dremeled away. I am going to buy a meter stick to put in between the sections for some support.

Got most of the chest done, part of the cannon, and a forearm. Still have to do the top of the cannon but I'm trying to keep the bottom and top separate until I figure out how I want to do the electronics for lights. I kinda want to steal my son's bumblebee cannon from transformers and use it on this somehow....

Top section is still separate so I can add lights to it on the inside of the cannon. Jfcustom left a flap at the bottom open for anything I want to throw in there.... a shotgun, cup holder, etc. I am really happy with how this came out. Can't wait to throw some paint on it!

Awesome man, they're looking badass that blue really does seem to just work or you have an obsession with blue costumes I haven't decided yet lol

This is fantastic! Any plans to add wings down the road? I'm starting on a set of Jaime style Beetle wings in the next month or two myself, and I'm still working out how to light such a massive piece of material.

And sorry if you've answered this elsewhere, but what's the paint you're using? It's perfect!

Hey Durk, Wow!!!! Th' blade, scarab, an cannon are really great lookin' brah lovin' th' paint job keep up th' good work.:p:cool:

Looks great!! Would love to see your IP build thread!!

The IP is all the basketball court foam. Nothing really special about it....not much to show. But thanks!

I don't know.... Every character that crosses my mind seems to have blue on it.... :p

I decided no wings because of the amount of suits I tend to try to pack in our car. I was going to use the 6mm foam for the supports of the wings, lined with LED's, and have 3mm coming down for the actual wing. But...like I said...too much stuff.....

The paint is Rustoleum Metallic Cobalt Blue. I buy it at Wal-Mart for $5.77/can.

Thanks.... I just got the thighs put together tonight. I know that the actual figure doesn't have one but JF had a concept version that is pretty cool that I'm running with. Have to be original sometimes.... :)

Attached the blue to the helmet today....

I do need some help with some holes for air though.... I felt like I was about to suffocate in that mask being all foam and no outlet. I was thinking either where the nose holes would go, put a mouth on it, or holes under the chin...maybe I'm claustrophobic.

i would poke holes in the mask where the mouth is, then skin it in spandex. that way you also get the glue seams smoothed out. and you can breathe.

you can add the blue parts on top of the spandex.

thats the only idea i can think of

Definitely think holes is a better idea then adding a mouth it looks awesome as it is like EyeofSauron says drill some holes and skin it maybe...

My spawn mask is just holes in the mouth area so small you can't see em in the detailing anyway they don't make a huge difference but its enough to keep me from passing out...

Black spandex, if its the cheap thin stuff, is super easy to breath through and looks totally opaque. So I'd go with that option, too.

I have templates for the thighs, abs, cod, and biceps...... So I did a test fit on what I have made, not completed, to see how it looked together without the under armor and just the wet suit. Hope you like where it's at so far.... I can't wait to get the chest painted so I can mount the scarab on the back.
