Blade Runner Blaster news: model kit version of the Tomenosuke Blaster is coming

The kits still cost US$550 each....They are charging airmail freight $50 (each kit) to ship to Australia. And, if you ship more than one at a time, there will be a discount, hence about $85 to ship two kits for example. (This is EMS, Express Post Service which take only a few days from Japan). So, for one kit to Australia is $600 total which is a great deal.

The main frame and the barrel are not made of cheap resin. They are made of high quality, hi-density, strong plastic polymer. Probably an ABS based plastic(?). The Barrel is filled with a steel rod for extra strength and weight (probably also to satisfy Japan gun laws I guess).

Yeah, everything is tapped and clean and ready to go. There's a tiny amount of seam cleanup needed on the frame/barrel. Also, unless I dropped them somehow then I was missing one flat slot screw and one small pin, but there was an extra dome screw I could use and I substituted the pin. I still have some work to do to get it working correctly.

Aside from the Allen keys they give you, you'll need small flathead and phillips screwdrivers, maybe a clamp would be handy too and definitely a large pair of pliers or grips to press-fit some of the pins. Sandpaper or wet and dry for seam cleanup on the frame (about a 30 second job). That's it. The build was just too easy to put aside for later as I had intended, haha. It's easy to disassemble for paint and weathering too.

If anyone goes ahead with aftermarket barrels I'd be in but they will require mods to the frame.

Edit: corrected terminology; in case of any confusion Charter Arms frame/barrel assembly is what needs seam cleanup not Steyr receiver.

Pretty sure it is ABS. It's quite a nice item for plastic.

About the only criticism I have would be that the instruction drawings are sometimes not perfectly clear about what goes where or what you're looking at, e.g. one cutaway view looked to me like an outside view from the opposite direction. Most of the fasteners are clearly called out but it would be nice if pins were identified too given that one of mine seemed to be missing (small one for the ejector) - I wasted more time than I should have trying to find it among the remainder, or figure out if I'd already used it mistakenly elsewhere.

Then again that was me being an idiot. I love this kit. BLASTER ITCH = SCRATCHED.

I'm itching to compare a Sid to mine, lol. I would have loved to have picked up a Sid some time and still might. This one almost falls together when you shake the box, and I do like a bit of cleanup and prep.

Speaking of the box, mad props to Staermose. It's really beautiful.

That would be great Dave....the screw holes included/tapped etc. as well?

Anyone planning to shim their kit up or anything? I'm finding mine a little bit rattly, but then I still have some tweaking to do.

DS Operative, I was going to paint my side covers. Scotchbrite gets rid of the "nickel" look on the slide pretty nicely but steel wool might be better. If the alloy is soft enough it might retain some steel fibres (this happens with aluminium). They rust, which is usually bad but here it might mean insta-Worldcon. :lol
