Blade Runner Blaster news: model kit version of the Tomenosuke Blaster is coming

Incredible piece.

Parts are super smooth and ready to rock. Arrived super fast too!

Bonus Policeman parts

Barrel is unfortunately cast into the receiver but the good news it is plugged with a hunk of metal so the entire plastic receiver has some serious heft to it.

Barrel has a metal bar through it.

Very nice. Your pictures have pushed me over the edge. I just sent an email. Hopefully I did not wait too long.

I am HAPPY!

So a question - I could buy a real bulldog and have an all metal gun, right?
I think I'm willing to buy one and slap all this stuff onto it, and just never fire it....

Can't say for fact.but i think that would be against the law.

Why would it be against the law? If anything the Barrel is getting longer and the Charter would be less concealable. The stuff added onto it would be metal not different than adding a comp or bigger grips.

I am HAPPY!

Yes it will definitely fit.

Google it, you'll find it.
Adam just confirmed that it's very do-able! Guess I'm off to buy a gun, lol

You're looking for a Charter Arms Bulldog in .44 special much like this one listed at Gunbroker.com:

This is one of the older guns, which should be more accurate, but Richard Coyle says you can use one of the newer stainless steel models as well. It's different in some details but should still fit after being modified. With either version you'd need to have a gunsmith remove the barrel and replace it with a custom made one that's the correct length, and have all the mounting holes drilled and tapped.

How do I know all this? I'm planning on doing exactly that, and I found some threads here on the RPF that talk about what it takes. If you live in the USA there's nothing illegal about it, but you should consider making the gun inoperative if you plan only to display it. In California, if a child took the gun from a display case and fired it, you'd be criminally liable. Your state laws may vary.

I think my kit arrives tomorrow!

The original prop used The Charter Arms Bulldog .44 Special that has gone out of production but is till readily available.

CA replaced the Bulldog with the .44 PUG which is 95% the same gun. With the exception of a few small parts.

Yes, if you are going to display it you would probably have to have it deactivated. I know here laws state that firearms and ammo have to be under lock and key in a gun safe to prevent someone (especially kids) from playing with it.

One of my friends kept an unloaded pistol in his closet. The babysitter found it and reported him to the police. He'll never be able to legally own a gun again. Lesson learned the hard way. On the positive side his kids didn't shoot themselves with it.

Mine arrived today too!

Ditto! HAPPY!!! Can't believe Customs didn't even open it. Awesome.

Pictures please, what is it like?

It is like Hirohawa's pictures. :p To add to those, it's heavy and slightly bigger than my other blasters (RR and a 90's unknown), mostly metal, incredibly clean and very complete, you even get the battery and a set of hex keys with which to assemble it. The alloy is a bit zinc-ey and will need some form of surface treatment to fully resemble the hero prop.

The police grips are nice and even include a black metal buttplate (haven't taken it out of the wrap yet, might not be metal but is heavy). My Rick Ross isn't built yet and these will fit it with a bit of putty work, so I think they'll go on that.

Seconding the "deactivate it" advice if you're not going to have it gunsmithed properly. If you are then make it a shooter! It'd so be worth it to be able to take it to the range. I'd love to have that option but a pistol license is a pain in the arse here and you have to keep your gun at the gun club premises anyway.

Statistically that's a WAY bigger risk than ever using it against a home invader anyway, so yeah, silver lining and all I guess. Ouch, though...

how is it going to be as easy as going out and buying a bulldog pup and just slapping that stuff onto it? wouldn't you need a new barrel?do you want the double triggers? doesn't the hammer of the real gun have to be reworked. you guys just make it sound easy...

Not easy or cheap but not impossible either

- Charter Arms Grip frame on almost every model is Aluminum take about 5 minutes to cut
- Steel hammer can be cut with dremel and shaped easily too.
- New modified front Trigger just slots into the space vacated by trigger guard - Charter arm rear trigger is retained and unaltered.
- Barrel made from a .44 special blank made by a gunsmith for a shooter would cost around $150+ much less if not firing and he would be bable to wrnch off original barrel.
- Lots of drilling and taping

Voila

Woo hoo! I'm on the list! No Police parts, but that's fine with me, as I wasn't gonna use them anyway.

how easy is it to assemble. it looks like all the holes are tapped so does that mean you just screw it together?

So is the barrel and frame of this kit made of resin? The part you are talking of replacing with a proper gun.
