do you mix these together?

I did. About equal parts red and blue, with about 50% more green than either of them.

Looking at that direct comparison, I might be inclined to experiment and put some bleach in the spray bottle first to try and strip out some of the dye before I start with the ink. But yes, we're getting close.

I haven't tested if bleach does anything to this fur. It might not.

Video on changing the fur color. This is a pretty good resource for any fur, actually, not just for this project. This works really well and holds up to being run through the wash.

The effect is more visible in real life, this was filmed on my phone and doesn't quite catch the color change.

The exact same practice would work great with other furs. If you have an exact color you're going for (starting from a light or neutral shade) you could get just about whatever you want, these inks come in dozens of colors.

Is the current brown/orange the original manufactured color of that fur or was it dyed that way? I don't know a whole lot about fabrics and dyeing, but i'm guessing bleach will do nothing to the color of actual fur due to the nature of the synthetic fibers, but it will strip the added dye out of it.

It's added dye. Bleach may in fact work, I've just heard that bleaching polyester is tricky. The manufacturer thinks that letting it sit in the sun would also take some color out, but it's winter where I live and there's not much sun to speak of.

I received my coat on Tuesday, but I've been sick all week...I'm finally feeling well enough to take some pictures and give my review!

Overall, I am extremely pleased with my purchase. I have a few complaints, but I want to be clear: they're relatively minor quibbles that I'm really only focusing on because I love the rest of the coat so much!

PROS:
- The colors are great! Canvas is perfectly green/gray/blue in my book, and I've actually taken quite a liking to the burnt sienna tone of the faux fur--I don't think I'll be re-dying it. I think of it as my own custom variant on Officer K's original, less-orange fur.
- Construction is excellent. Feels sturdy, and all of the details look spot-on.
- Deceptively warm! I'm not sure what the lining is actually made of, but I am surprised and impressed by how well it's holding up to the Michigan winter, considering it's not super-thick. That quilting is really pulling its weight.

CONS:
- Custom sizing is almost too good--it's a bit snugger than I expected. It's perfectly fitted to my body while I'm standing casually in a t-shirt...but if I'm wearing a sweater, or if I happen to stretch my shoulders back, I'm likely to pull open the magnetic closures. This probably wouldn't even be noticeable in a traditional button-up coat, but because the magnets can be separated so easily, it kind of highlights when the chest is being pulled tighter than it should be. If you plan to layer clothes for a harsh winter, or just want a bit more room to move, I would recommend adding an inch or two to the chest measurement. I also probably could have benefited from an extra half-inch or inch in the arms, but I'm kind of lanky, and that's my own issue.
- The face mask is slightly tighter than I'd like it to be. Like, I can easily close the strap/buckle to put the mask up, no problem. But if I want the magnets on the collar to close perfectly, the mask is going to be pretty tight against my face. Which segues into my next issue...
- The magnetic closures on the front are positioned perfectly, but the closures for the collar are a little less perfect. As I just mentioned, you've got to pull the mask pretty tight to get the magnets on all four corners to connect. And, if you're trying to fold the long part of the collar under the left lapel (as K does), the magnet in the collar extends just a bit too far past the corresponding magnet in the lapel, so the connection is a bit weak, and it might fall out from under the lapel pretty easily.

You can see here how tight the mask is against my face--this is the only way that I can make the magnets in the corners of the collar seal properly. If I was only using the strap and not the magnets, I could have a bit more breathing room.

And here's a non-canon tip--if you want to cover your chest, but don't need the full face-mask, you can easily close the lapels like this and I think it still looks pretty stylish:

I kinda dig when he has it done up like this;

How's shoulder width seam to seam, true to size?

Great review, thanks, man!
A couple of questions:
-Would yo recomend ad 1 inch in the chest? Maybe also in the weist for avoid the issues of the magnets opening? And the arms?
-What do you think could be the solution for the tight collar and the non matching magnet in the right lapel with the collar?

Zlurpo, this questions are also for you;)
I was asuming that when the meassures are sended to the taylor he always have in mind that something more thick than a shirt have to go inside the coat, also have some room for confort.
I also was confident that the face guard goes in "V" form, I mean that opens since the neck and goes wider in the top,
not a straight tube.

I don't want to speak for Zlurpo, and I'm not sure whether my issues are the result of my own mis-measurements, or just quirks in the pattern, or a combination of both. I'm not trying to be hyper-critical of Zlurpo's work, I just want to make these things known in case (a) he can adjust the pattern slightly for future runs, or (b) folks can adjust their own measurements slightly to compensate.

Personally I think I would have been happier with an extra inch or inch-and-a-half in the chest, yeah. The waist isn't especially problematic because the hook-and-loop closure keeps it shut even if it happens to pull tight (unlike the chest, which only has magnets). The arms are actually fine--I'm just used to my sleeves being slightly overlong, so this seemed shorter than I was accustomed to.

The face mask is definitely tight against my face when the magnets are properly closed, whereas Gosling looked like he had maybe an inch of breathing room between his face and the fabric.

I'm not sure if there's any "solution" to this...that's just how it's constructed on my coat, and it is what it is. I can get away withonly buckling the strap and not worrying about the magnets, if I want it a bit looser. And luckily it's not too tight if I close the magnets, so I can do that if I want to keep my face extra-warm. I would be more upset if the magnet-closed collar was too small to fit my head--but thankfully my melon just fits within the sealed collar.

I'm hoping you've mis-measured if I'm honest, for my sake. I've been gaining weight steadily over the last few months (a concerted effort to be less skinny) and i'm hoping this coat will have some breathing room in it still, otherwise it'll end up never being worn. I accounted for an extra centimeter around the chest and biceps in my measurements and it was all measured up by someone else for accuracy, but by the sounds of it a cm might not be enough. Fingers crossed...

Not yet, I know my guy has them mostly done but I don't know for sure. Hopefully soon!

any tracking on first run shipments for those that haven't arrived? mine says not shipped on etsy still - not sure if that's accurate, however.
