Limited Run BLADE RUNNER 2049: Officer K (Ryan Gosling) Jacket/Coat - NOW SELLING

Just out of curiosity, can you take a picture of the new fur with the modded one?

Thanks!

Here's a comparison. New on the left, modified on the right. Lighting makes them seem even more similar than they really are, but the colors are very close. Really the only difference is the new fur is a tiny bit lighter.

I think I’ll modify the new fur. That and a hour or so of standing in the rain and it’ll be close to perfect! I mean, he was always in the rain or snow in the film. It must make a difference.

Agree. It's a bit light. To be perfect that fur needs to be distressed and doing it make it a litle bit darker. Actually I asked zlurpo if was possible his guy distress it.

I received mine today. I love it! I have purchased the colors Zlurpo recommended. I think that the fur also seems to change color in lighting. Sometimes a little more orange, sometimes less. I had the same thought Zlurpo had when he first looked it over. Initially I though it didn’t need any dye. I’ll take some photos with all types of lighting. Here is bright tungsten. I also wondered how well I did with my measurements and I find mine to fit very well! I have mobility and all good with sleeve length.. The lettering also seems toned down. It has a bit of a shine to it. I’m waiting too see what others do about coating it but Zlurpo has indeed given a spare fabric to test! Thank you very much for your hard work! I knew it would turn out nice. Can’t wait to wear it out tomorrow!

Coat looks great

When you took your measurements did you submit the exact sizes or did you add on a little extra for movement etc?

Thanks, I gave the chest and sleeves an extra centimeter when making measurements. I also have the coat come just below my kneecap and I'm 6' 4" if that matters much. I just wore the coat out this morning. It is currently 19 degrees F here in MA, USA. The coat is indeed warmer than you would think. The magnets are great I can open and close very quickly if needed. It stays closed very well. If anything, I am finding the hook and loop to be a bit tough to deal with but the magnets do the trick anyway. It is also hard to get the clasp closed when covering the face. This has NOTHING to do with Zlurpo's design. It is simply the design of the coat itself. This is my first coat ever purchased when it comes to a movie - cosplay type thing but this is not considered cosplay to me.... I do however feel like an agent when driving my car! :cool I'm going to try having someone take more pics soon. I will be dying the fur to get a darker look. The collar tends to lay the same way that it did on Ryan G on occasion. The collar folds over well, but I got to say, every scene in that movie would have had many people all over his outfit before each shoot. Always making it perfect, so don't feel off if it doesn't alway fall well. The coat is well worth the money! I will be wearing this for the rest of the winter and actually am waiting to see if anyone out there comments on the movie/coat! Oh, and one more thing... Do wear black before you try this on! I am seen here in a white shirt and it left lots of black fuzzies all over it when I took it off. Will need to wear it a bit to get those out. Interior pocket is deep too! Will be putting my badge/wallet in there. < Geek

Zlurpo Any way to find out specifically which dye was used on the faux fur?

I'd like to try lightening mine but would like to do it without damaging the polyester fibers (so bleach is out of the question). There are other chemicals to use but knowing what type of dye it is will give me a big headstart. Thanks!

I can ask!

Saaaaammeeee.

Zlurpo these coats are looking fantastic dude. Props to you for sorting a fur solution for the lads with Gen 1 and for sorting the fur on the Gen 2.

I reckon i'll dye mine on my Gen 2 as and when I get it, probably layer the colours a couple of times too whilst drying in between to get the exact shade I want.

Can't wait!

Sounds like a good idea!

Curious whether you're going the ink route as zlurpo suggested or if dyeing, how you plan to go about it? I have my coat in hand, just second-guessing myself as to the method.

I was going to spritz on a very watered down acrylic paint wash but seeing as the alcohol ink Zlurpo used in the video seem to yield such a good result I shall try that instead

I actually tried using a watered down acrylic wash, and it turned out very well. The only problem is that it all came right back out in the washing machine.
Wish I would have taken a picture before I washed it though. I'm going to be using the inks that Zlurpo used next to hopefully get something a bit more permanent.

If you want to use acrylic paint, you need to buy fabric medium as well. It should be sold in craft stores with the paint, in the same size/shape/style bottle. It's a milky liquid that you mix into the paint color of your choice, and it makes it bond much better to any textile. However, any amount of acrylic paint will alter the texture in my experience.
