Limited Run BLADE RUNNER 2049: Officer K (Ryan Gosling) Jacket/Coat - NOW SELLING

Hi Zlurpo (and all BR fans hereabouts) - you mentioned before about including swatches of the main coat fabric for those who wanted to experiment with waxing: would it be possible to similarly include a swatch or two of the fur for those in the first run to safely try out some of the tricks with dilute acrylic paint and suchlike?

The more I look at it more looks like fox fur wasted. Could be? Or I start to loosing my mind looking and looking and looking?

Also it not appears that the right side of the collar is not stitched and goes behind the lapel?

It's visibly stitched in all these photos you posted man, take a look, and you don't get fox fur for $2 a yard. I think you are just looking at things that aren't there maybe.

I didn't get any of the fur sent and I'm not sure there's any left with my manufacturer to get at this point.

There are 4 stitches holding the collar piece to the lower lapel. I'm not sure if those are "supposed" to be there on the character's jacket, or if they are just small stitches added to get it to hang right, but they are definitely there.

If I had to guess, I would speculate that the stitches on the left side were added during or after a costume fitting but before filming in order to get the collar to sit on Ryan Gosling's shoulder they way that they wanted it to. You can definitely tell the difference between different reproductions with and without that stitching, and it universally looks closer to what's on the screen with those stitches in place.

Could be. Me, Magnoli, and I believe WSL have the stitches on our coats.

Zlurpo, anything to report on your attempts to change the fur color on the first-run coats? Not trying to pressure you, just curious.

(For what it's worth, I'm not necessarily upset at the fur color, and I wouldn't be mad if there was no option to change it...but since you're trying, I would like to see what your re-dying efforts look like before determining "I'm ok with the coat as-is". Also, I'm going on a trip in mid-February, and I'd love to have the coat by then if possible!)

First trials are giving some decent results, mostly using the thinned acrylic seen in the videos posted. Still want to try a couple more things in the application to get some good even coverage.

Zlurpo, will you be offering the coats in different colors? Maybe black waxed cotton?

I can offer it in a black waxed cotton, but it's a different weave and not as thick as the normal version.

Still excited for this coat. As i'm in the second run, I just wondered if your manufacturer has found an alternative fur for the 2nd run of coats?

As an aside, for first run coats, would not simply washing the coat in a washing machine not bleed the green dye into the orange and dull it down a bit? Or is the coat not machine washable?

It's the same fur, just dyed less vibrantly.

The coat is washable, but the dye seems pretty stable (I've washed one) and it doesn't seem to bleed.

Ahh that'll be perfect then mate. It's good news to hear that the fur actually takes dye. That means if someone wants to dye theirs after the fact they'll actually be able to.

Is it that simple with the fur now sewn onto the coat though? Again, no experience with the sort of thing, but I imagine attempting to apply dye to it now could affect the coat. No?

Uh... Yeah I don't know how to dye only PART of a piece of a coat with real fabric dye. I only know how to do so with whole pieces you can submerge by them self into a container full of dye and hot water.

I don’t have any experience with this sort of thing, which is why I spent so much to just buy the coat. So please do hold off on shipping until there is a solution for getting the color right. I want to wear it in public, so I want to see colors like in the original images. Thanks for the efforts.

Just wondered have you started to ship the coats yet ?

I have started, and the remainder of the first run should ship on Monday and Tuesday.

The coats have begun shipping, and will all ship out regardless of the solution to changing the color of the fur. When I find a good solution, I will post a guide on how to accomplish the look that I think works best, and as I said before, likely send a small refund that can cover the supplies needed to change the colors using what solution I find. But I am not going to be applying the change to the orders, as it will likely be a bit time consuming and doing it to 30 coats would take me far too long.

If my coat hasn't shipped yet could you make the changes for me?

I'll gladly pay. Knowing me I'll probably ruin the coat trying to do it myself.
