Black series XWing Pilot helmet up for pre-order on Amazon

I thought Anovos supplied the flight suits and (raw) helmets for Rogue One, maybe someone can post the Hasbro next to the Anovos for a size comparison.

Anovos never shipped any Luke helmets so that would be impossible at this time.

I see all the talk about the size and it being small...in my opinion (whatever that’s worth lol) it looks to be smaller than the OT helmets; however, the helmets used in Rogue One are smaller and this helmet might be to scale inline with those.

I don't think the Rogue One helmets are smaller in general size but the mohawks are a bit more conservative. And I think that is what we are seeing here. The Black Series general size in on par with a size large APH.

I can't swear to any of these facts but I was told back about 2002 by someone who did have access to the LFL archives that the archives did not have any actual screen used x-wing helmets in their possession. The only ones they had were those replicated for publicly purposes for an LFL game and that is what was seen on display at Magic of the Myth exhibit.

So I'm not sure how true it is but I do believe real ORIGINAL TRILOGY helmets are few. I would also believe that access to recent R1 props would be more accessible and therefore utilized by LFL and Hasbro. Just my thoughts.

They did ship Rey's scavenger helmet. However the idea that they had to rely on Anovos for such things doesn't make much sense. You have a prop department at your disposal and these helmets are not difficult to make. Also the flight suits were made differently from original trilogy so why wouldn't you just utilize your own costuming department?

Received my Hasbro preorder on Saturday! Haven’t had a chance to open it yet... stupid adulting...

I was thinking it looked a little small in the unboxing videos (not enough to deter me, but maybe a bit), but then I also remembered that Hamill is what, roughly three apples high? Might be contributing to the original looking a little bigger on his noggin.

Just unpacked mine. I'm no expert on the details of X-wing helmets, but it's a really nice piece at the price point. I'm very pleased with it! (y)

This one looks big on me and I about the same height as Mark Hamill. Again, I think we are just used to seeing slightly oversized helmets.

Totally agree as most custom helmets were made with the idea of bigger to fit a larger portion of the adult cosplay population anyway And these molds made with the base being the external side of a large APH which in essence turns it a 1/2 to full size larger. Curious to see a side by side with a large APH and see how they compare.

There are some cool Easter eggs in this thing. If you hold the button down in Xwing mode you land and hear R2 get out. If you do it in snowspeeder mode, you crash. Also in Xwing mode if you just sit long enough you get more obiwan lines.

Has anyone figured out the snowspeeder mode harpoon thing? It doesn’t seem as responsive to button presses in that mode, and I always get “activate harpoon” but never the rest of the speech after that when I hit the button. Is it a every one in ten kinda thing that it hits?

Mine finally showed up last night. LOVE it! On my tiny little pin-head-on-a-too-long-body it looks perfectly sized compared to screen caps. I wish the Velcro were better and am thinking of either replacing it with industrial strength and more of it, or just gluing the ear pads in - as is, and the only real complaint I've got with the thing, is that even on a small head, putting the helmet on is a delicate affair so as not to dislodge the ears. The volume is also a little low, but that may be how I've positioned the pads. The mic boom is also a little loose and tends to slip down from where I position it, but hopefully that's an easy fix. Other than that, amazed by what Hasbro did for a hundred bucks, Disney/LFL licensed product. Only other complaint is that seeing how well this turned out, I'm now really impatient for the Fett to get here!

I messed with mine more and in snowspeeder mode it seems if you wait longer before hitting the button you get the rest of the harpoon chatter.

Also it’s so damn fun going through the whole Death Star explosion with Han talking to you and everything.

I received my red 5 and it is the best BS helmet to date. One thing nobody has mentioned is the rubber trim is REAL rubber. Past BS helmets had the trim molded into the helmet with a rubber coating such as the Stormtrooper. Hasbro went the extra mile to provide real separate rubber trim on the red 5. This helmet is treading prop replica territory and is worth more then $100. The mic is metal and poseable and the weathering is so good for Mass production! It's so friggin pretty.

As far as the size it is fractionally smaller then the screen size, most notably in the width of the mohawk. But it's still a size that looks fantastic when worn. It does not look undersized on my head. If anything it still looks oversized. I can see why Hasbro fractionally shrank it, kids and most adults it would swallow their heads.

Not one nit pick aside from a tiny paint defect. I give it 5/5. Pictures to follow soon. I'm using it for my EsB pilot costume. Im going to mod it to esb but for ANH red 5 this helmet needs ZERO mods. The first BS helmet that will not benefit from any kind of mods. Who ever designed this deserves a medal.

They also did a great jobe hiding any mold lines, compared to the stormtrooper. It looks like the left and right halves are separate solid pieces, joined underneath the mohawk crest, which is also separate. But its all merged flawlessly.

Thing is that is exactly how the screen helmets were assembled.

This helmet looks so freaking good I have no itch to buy a fan made version anytime soon. This is a rare occurrence where a budget licensed piece did not left me with wanting something more. Just wow. Hasbro is knocking it out of the park. Anovos and EFX take note, Rubies good luck selling your cheap version with the foam chin strap!

I wonder if Hasbro will do exclusive variants like a Wedge? I would pre order the day it goes up.

You are so right. They knocked this one out of the park. As for size I think it is closer to true size than the EFX which is way too big. RS got the size really close and this is pretty close to that by most accounts...maybe just a hair smaller.
The details on it are so nice.

I agree the mohawk is smaller than Luke’s screen used helmet but I do not believe it is because they scaled down the helmet. As I stated in other posts, I believe the base design of the helmet utilized a Rogue One helmet. The main difference in those helmets are the smaller Mohawk. Except for the Mohawk, the rest of the helmet stays very true to fan helmets that utilize a size large APH helmet as their base design.

That's impressive for a "toy" from a toy company. These helmets are so amazingly well done and this is the reason why I was so hard on the Vader last year. They practically matched the Luke helmet at about 99% but then we have the Vader.

The ear pads can be problematic. I found that their seems to be one sweet spot for keeping them attached.

I tried playing around with different positions. I tried to drop them lower so they follow the curve of the bottom of the helmet like you see in the eFx and seen in helmets worn by Red Leader. The thing about the screen helmet ear pads is that there is no standards. Even if you are just looking at Luke’s helmet, the type and size of his padding changes from movie to movie.
