Black series XWing Pilot helmet up for pre-order on Amazon

I had a chance to handle one in a Forbidden Planet shop yesterday. Was seriously impressed by the the quality. I may wait for the prices to come down before I pick one up since I already have a few helmets (including a Luke) and would most likely want to use it for a customs. Hopefully they have made enough that supply won't dry up too soon! Would love it if they do variants down the line though!

For a lot

With a whole lot of Hasbro's stuff, I feel the same way - I know it's going to come down, and I know it's going to hit clearance sooner rather than later. With these BS helmets though....? I kind of feel like it makes sense to reward Hasbro (well, retailers really - Hasbro doesn't care once they've sold wholesale, but if retailers are seeing these things sell at full price...) by paying full price when they knock these things out of the park the way they did on this one (Vader I sat until it hit like, fifty bucks or so just because the sculpt was wonky in ways there was no reason for it to be) - sort of encourage them to keep doing things right and hopefully see more down the road.

Who ever designed this deserves a medal.
Not sure how accurate this is, but someone on the Star Wars Helmets FB page claims that beginning with this bucket and moving to the Fett and beyond, Hasbro has gotten permission to scan samples in the archives and are using that data as their base model. Now, obviously they're also cleaning things up and sanitizing most of the wonkiness to make it play for kids and parents and casual collectors, but even so, if that's true then...just wow. A heavier grade product, using the same digital scanning and cleaning pipeline as Anovos and eFX, with electronics (but without a hardhat adjustment rig), for less than one fifth the price, AND you can rely on it shipping on time as promised within a year from announcement? I hope they never, ever, never never never stop making these things.

There was a few pics of the scans they did on the Fett helmet, so yeah its true.

I agree that Hasbro should be rewarded for their efficiency with these helmets. With the exception of Vader, I have tried to purchase at least one of each at full price. I usually wait until they are on deep discounts before I buy an extra helmet.

That being said, if someone needs to wait until they go on sale to afford it? Then that’s 100% alright as far as I see it. I’m just grateful we get to live in a time where you don’t have to be rich to enjoy this hobby.

That's impressive. I heard the Boba is scanned from an original but slightly clean up. And that's what it looks like. Someone posted a picture of the ditigal scan in the BS fett thread.

Hasbro are providing product that can compete with efx and Anovos and they deliver said product on time 100% of the time. The Luke helmet I say is 90% accurate with the 10% for idealizing. That's really a game changer for electronic toy helmets. Just look at the helmets from the PT era to what we are getting now. Huge difference.

Hasbro has proved their is a market for actual replicas and that it is possible to deliver.

Not completely.

Ordered mine on Amazon when they released it many months ago, delivery date should be 05. this month. On 06 i got a mail from ebay, they excused they can´t deliver on time, new date would be until middle of Dez, probably. Yesterday i got another mail with new delivery date on 12 Nov.

Not really a problem, but also not 100% on time. ;)

I think that's on the retailer though - Hasbropulse and Amazon orders all shipped when they were supposed to

The Fett, yeah, knew that, but hadn't heard that about either the Luke or anything for the future (what would be next, anyways? A biker to coincide with Jedi's anniversary? That would still get released before eFX gets their poop together? No interest in anything ST though) . I guess if I thought about it at all, I was thinking that the Fett being a cleaned up digital scan was a one-off situation because of the paint job. If this is really the way of the future for these things, then colour me stoked.

Im so lost at what you're saying.

As far as I know the day pre ordering went up it was said to be released in early October. I pre ordered and received it early October.

Mine America in today and I am seriously impressed!
Next is Fett and dang skippy I'm getting that one as well.
You KNOW a TIE helmet is in the pipeline as well as a Biker Scout and hopefully an imperial guard.
Ooooo, maybe a DS gunner! Or a rebel trooper!

Biker Scout. Yes please.

Forget the ebay part in my post, it was all Amazon. o_O

As mentioned, it was said to be released in early October, i preordered immediatly when the preorder went up (2-3 days after it did in the US) ...... and received nothing yet. And according to Amazon it will be middle of November (if there will be no further delays).

So .... nope, definately not 100% on time.

That's strange, but to be fair that is a third party issue. Hasbro released it on time. These were on the street by 9-26.
In any event, once you get it, I hope you enjoy your helmet. They are very nice!

Sorry to hear your Amazon shipment has a delay, but our Amazon BS Xwing helmet order came like monday of last week.... so on time. Maybe your distribution center ran out or something...

Definitely stinks either way as i know your anxiously awaiting a great product... i cant even open mine yet (Birthday present)... but i know where it is... it tasks me... not the same i know but... i know the feeling.

The good news is the product is out and its a shipping thing... not an entire product delay.

Maybe your helmet gets there earlier than November... thats happened to me with Amazon... they say its a month out and a week later Amazon shipped it out .... here's hoping!

It was just a little poking with a stick regarding the "100%". ;)
But I wonder a little bit. You can assume Amazon is the biggest Hasbro distributor/shop, never seen anything from the black series in any shop in any town (maybe if there are some really big shops like your ToysRus, but not the usual sized toy shops), and some single pieces in small comic shops. Prop collecting and even costuming is no big thing in Germany, so i don´t expect big numbers of that stuff moving, just some for a handfull kids (and us adult kids). So it seems Amazon.de has not got any of the preordered.
Only explanation i have is .... Hasbro has not delivered them to Germany yet, as i´m sure Amazon would have got theirs first.

As i mentioned above - it´s no problem, as i have no concerns when the combination Hasbro/Amazon has a delay.
Would be nice to have it, but .....now i have a longer time period to wait happily.

Yeah, never use Mark as your basis for scale. That led to many years of Rebel Legion pilots having too-large flak vests, and a certain stubborn fondness for XL helmets. Base your comparisons on just about any of the other pilots.

There's a certain irony in that. Most modern air forces prefer the smallest pilots they can get.

I'm going to do a comparison later from all three OT films, measuring pupillary distance relative to the width of the visor opening. Superimposing each Rebel pilot in a face-on shot, lining up the mohawk width, should yield a consistent helmet, within which the actors' heads will be the variable. Average pupillary distance of adult males is 64mm (within a typical range of 58mm-68mm), so one should be able to determine fairly closely he big the original props were...
