Looks great. Is this a kit or ready out of the box?

About the expanders: yes...I´m casting some stuff now and will also cast your expanders like promised.
Ready out the box, doing some upgrades to it over the next couple of months.
Just having a practice with it.
I’ve made a couple of waving Groots, bits for my sons camera hobby now I’m doing myself an Iron Man helmet

wow that looks great.I also want a 3D printer. Is it easy to use for beginners also?
I’m a beginner and look what I’ve done
Read and learn that’s all I’ve done and I’m sure I’m going to make lots of mistakes
I love my 3D printer and a second one is on my list for later this year one is never enough :lol:;)

Anybody willing to lend me 1 of each size dental expander I can scale from ? as I would like to try and 3D print some for casting
I’ve looked at many many pictures but nothing is better than having them in hand to measure from

I'm happy to lend you a couple Ben.

I can get a large and small expansion screw in the post to you in the next couple of days?

...I figure I owe you the favour! ;)

I’ve been trying my hand at autocad 3D
Mmmmmm what can I say !! I’ve another set of skills to learn before I can send these to my 3D printer
Not finished by a long shot, more YouTube videos to watch I think !!!!

Another string to my bow !!
I’ve finally figured out how to convert my autocad drawing into an STL file ( ish )
I think it was purely by accident as I’m not really sure how I did it but I will figure it out again, I’ve printed off the neck collar “V” piece, it needs refining and most probably redoing but this is the result of my very first design and 3D print
Looks very promising

Dose anyone know what the tubes that bund up by the actors nose are? The black tubes with the spun aluminum ends? The tubes don’t look smooth, they look like they have bumps on them.

These ?
As far as I know Not identified, people are scrat building these as I will be doing

After a long and fruitful couple of months hard work by gonk27 drawing and re-drawing he has managed to replicate it (if I may say ) exactly to my original neck collar grill, a piece has now been photo etched and delivered, paired up to the original and you cannot tell them apart. The newness of the material is the only thing that gives it away.
Unless we find other original grills this is the best copy we are ever going to get for the Vader reveal collar
Massive congrats and well done to gonk27 you are a genius and a gentleman

I will do a run on these when I’ve sorted cost and stuff

I’ve been practicing with my 3D printer
A while back I drew up the chin / lip guard for inside the mask and sent drawings and measurements out to a few machine shops for build quotes £££ very expensive over £1200 for a press mold and I wasn’t even convinced they would do it right.
Sooo the original design I did, I played with it a little and printed a test piece
I have a small amount metal looking pla for the printer so I might print it again later

I’m going to give it a clean up then prime it just get a better finish, then I will get a better idea on the next step with this piece

Hey gang,

I figured this was as good a place as any to post this as it seems to be relevant to the discussion in this great build thread! I've recently been getting into 3D modelling and printing and thought I'd take a quick stab at the Glenross expansion screws. My only real reference was the photos that "gonk27" put up in post #300 of this thread that features both the large and small versions of the expansion screws next to a ruler. So my measurements are largely guesstimates from that, so they are going to be a little off, but once I printed it out for the first time, I really was surprised at just how tiny this thing is, and this is the "large" one. Am I way off here or does this seem to be about right? If anyone has some more detailed measurements they'd be willing to share, I can update my model and then make prints available for people if there is interest. I'd actually be up for trying to model and print a whole bunch of the Vader reveal parts, so I'm always open for any plans, details, or measurements people would like to share!

If you let make these companys the most parts of the mask you can buy a plane or a yacht from this money.:D

I couldn’t afford to give them that amount of money, if it was wrong then I would have to start back from the beginning with fresh drawing, measurements and a mould
Too expensive not be correct on the first try.

I also need the money to fuel my own jet for the weekend vacations and fuel my boat for the midweek fishing trips off the Gold Coast
:lol::lol::lol:

I also want them to be affordable for everyone not just the rich to fund my lavish lifestyle
