Battlestar Galactica: The Exhibition

We are actually lending some stuff to them to make the exhibit a bit larger, but the items aren't in the display yet...not all the items that were there on opening day will make it all the way through the exhibit as they are being borrowed and some will be pulled early...so items will come and go. By the time it tours, there will be a bunch of different objects that are not there now, we won't be allowing our stuff to travel around though, just in the Seattle exhibition.

To anyone else that is going, post more pics, please!

This is a great Exhibit and I'd like to see what I'm missing...

It's so cool that the full size ships were really built. That they exist!

Hope to see 'em in person sometime.

Great exhibit and great to see the ships are still in one piece. Lets hope they stay preserved for a long while.

Now...get to visiting Ireland :D

I was there on opening night and it really is a very cool exhibit. It was VERY crowded that night though, so I plan on going back so that I can spend more time and look at everything a little closer.

Tried to take some pics with my phone, but without a flash they didn't turn out. I'll take a better camera next time.

Whats the nonsense about flash pictures? So they let you take pictures but put the exhibits in dark rooms to deter you ? Never liked this mentality about some exhibitors and boycott them when they start this idiocy. One lame excuse I was told at an exhibit once is they think the light from the flash will wash out colors.....well it would take decades of constant harsh light to do that. Fortunately they make good digital cameras that take great pictures in low lite rooms then you can tweak the exposure on your computer.

Beats me what it is. To make matters worse, they won't let you take a tripod in either to get a long exposure. I tried that today. Nobody could explain why I couldn't do it. :unsure
Aaron Douglas did a talk and episode review there today. I'd never met the man before. I had heard he is prone to showing up for fans in a uniform, but I was shocked when he showed up in his BDUs! I was also there with my BDUs in case I ran into any other fans there. I'm glad I did now.
He actually did a double-take when he looked out in the audience and saw someone else wearing what he was. Great guy, just like I'd always heard. We all watched "Flight of the Phoenix" which he swore he'd not seen since it first aired. He actually yelled out at some of the characters during the episode which was pretty funny ""F-YOU, Hot Dog!" when Hot Dog mentions the Chief frakking the toaster).
I got him to sign my BSG log book that I got from kevinericon here at this forum. I could have sold 2-3 of them when I was standing in line if I'd had more than the one. Aaron signed my book, "Get back to work, Specialist!" when I told him I had run an Army maintenance unit. He did ask what I thought of the way he portrayed that part as I'd seen the types in real life. I told him he'd nailed it (which, he had which is why I always ID'd what that character most of all).

And I finally got a halfway-decet shot with the MKII, certainly better than the one I got at the exhibit opening, anyway...

And a time-delay shot I took holding very still in front of the MK II:

I must warn you, the shipsup close just don't look nearly as cool as they do on screen, but it is really neat to be standing in the same room as they are!
One thing I noticed today while standing in line, one of the Spinner cars from Blade Runner is hanging right above the membership desk. I've been there many times and never noticed it as you don't expect to need to looks straight up. It's almost impossible to get a good photo of it as you can't get level with it anywhere...

I was lucky enough to make up to Seattle for the opening weekend, and had a great time. Met some old friends, and a lot of new ones. The show is smaller in size than I thought it might be, but I was expecting that to a degree since a list of items was published before the show opened, along with the video release. The Daggit is the only item that was in the basement area not in the rest of the display. Over all I like the set up, but with a slight disappointment in the amount of items on dispaly. I think some of the floor space is lost from the 3 full sized ships. I wouldn't miss it at all if a BSG fan original or new. I also made it to the two panels on Saturday, and those were worth it.

I talked with you on Saturday afternoon, but we were each going different directions, would have loved to talk "Space Above and Beyond" cockpits with you a lot more!

Oh yeah that is right I do recall that short conversation. I would have loved to continue talking about SAAB, but was pulled off into an other direction. Not many people recall that show, but it was a good one that was a victim of politics.

I was able to visit the exhibit and I love to take photos... not the bestest quality ever but I couldn't use a flash and didn't have a tripod.

Great photos, thanks for sharing!

It's awesome you went & got to see all that. :):thumbsup

(The replica Spinner, wow. Frak yeah.)

Wish i could have gotten up to see it. I helped build the 1978 studio scale model reproduction seen in the photos. If you could unscrew the nose plate below the bridge, you would see my signature i put there when we finished ;)

Thanks! I hope people can find the photos useful. I tried to get as much good detail as possible without taking thousands of photos. It is worth it to see if you are a huge BSG fan. I was in Seattle for work and decided to check it out.

That's awesome! However, I wouldn't want to break the "Don't Frakkin Touch the Artifacts" rule though (pic 27 in the album) :behave haha

Actually, much of that was my collection, and it was an honor to have it displayed as part of the exhibit.

It was unfortunate I didn't know of this one before, I would have been going for sure. Any chances of seeing this in Europe? :D
