Batman cowl help needed...

I just got a Begins Cowl cast from the original... only to discover what a narrow head I've got compared to Bale:

So, what would you recommend for a cowl that would fit me better. I'm not particularly picky as to the style, as long as it's a fairly "standard" Batman. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Magnoli

You can probably make it work by padding the back of the mask a little.

Just what I thought.

Very thin padding at the back of the head should push your face forward. It doesn't look like a bobblehead or anything. Just a tad too big.

I would Guess Keaton and Kilmer have bigger heads than Bale... Maybe the Clooney?

I don't think padding it will work, but I may give it a try next time I slip it on. I may end up selling this to fund a different cowl.

Thanks,
Indy

I would question the padding as well... Looking at the picture it's not just that your head sits back in the cowl; your eyes are hitting the outer wall of the nose.
Are you on the Brotherhood Of The Bat forums? at this point you could probably trade several cowls for a "screen-molded" begins. Reevs666's cowls are a bit smaller and stretchier from what I've heard. Janty Chattaw might have a smaller cowl as well? (He's not on the BOTB, he seceded from that forum and started the Brubberhood of The Bat.... long story).

What's your priority with your cowl now after having one from the same mold?

Size-fit? Or Screen accuracy? (Both, ideally of course...)
P.S. I LOVE my Magnoli Joker tie and Bracers... I wear them as often as I can :)

It's not that you have a narrow face compared to Bale. It's the fact the cowl is huge. The reason being that it's cast from a master design to run foam latex which shrinks a fair amount after curing/baking. This cowl run the way it was intended (foam latex) would be quit a bit smaller. I had one of the RD cowls here this summer, I can almost turn my head around in it. It's massive. ;)

Thanks guys. Finhead, someone else just told me the same thing, so I don't feel so bad about my head now! ;)

Tsuyosa, I've posted at BotB (first post there) so we'll see how that goes.

Right now, I'm mostly looking for a high quality cowl, not any particular style, though I do like the '89 version as well. I basically want something that will last and look good being worn (as well as displayed). Too much to ask?

Thanks,
Indy

Not too much at all. :) I have 3 cowls that fit me like they were made for me, tuff and hold there shape prefect. Give this site a look see and talk to the guy that owns it, Inferno.

Dude im new here..Hi. But I wouldnt go near Janty Chattaw...he stole over a $1000 of me so hes a dope!!

sweet! :) now its time for the deep voice :)

it is like u said a bit too big for you. but nothing a bit of food wont fix if u know what i mean ;) :thumbsup

I've already put on a bit of weight... the amount I'd need to put on to fill out this cowl... I'd be called Fatman! ;)

Kind regards,
Indy

If it makes you feel any better that's exactly what the stunt team on Begins called Bale when he turned up for work on the film after piling weight back on from filming The Machinist.

The head isn't that big of a deal (that can be padded easily enough) it's the jaw area that would be tough to fill out. You'd have to be pretty wide-jawed or round faced to have it fit right.

Kind regards,
Indy

This is actually pretty common. The best thing to do would be to pad the back of the cowl as previously mentioned. The Keaton cowls in particular, the back of the head was and inch thick in foam. Compare that to a standard urethane cowl, which at the maximum is usually about a centimetre. You basically need some padding at the back to push your face comfortably into the front of the mask.

Hi, I'm from Spain so I try explain this much clear I can.

Recently I finish my first cowl, but when I paint it, I see that the cowl have many points and little pieces of dry latex I break when I dremel it .

My question is: Must I let the cowl like this, or there is some way to reppair it? Maybe pouring on another thin layer of latex?

If exists some way to reppair it, please explain me more clearly as you can.

Thanks.
