I think bandai has a bit of a different mentality. They make them for people who don't always paint their models. And they want to put them together like puzzles.
I didn't really mind the coloured bits either on the smaller one. But that's because they always follow the panel lines.
The wing decals on my 1/48 are a bit of a different story. They're actually the only thing on the model that doesn't seam perfectly. They need to be glued and clamped

I don't see anything wrong with the mandibles,....I think there will be zero chance of an error like what FineMolds had done with their Falcon kits,....TFA Falcon is a digital model, so all merchandise should have the correct dimensions

Hey, John, does that mean the Bandai falcon measurements are taken from the digital Falcon used on-film? That would be awesome! Can't wait to see the 5-footer curves in a 1/72 model (or I hope 1/48).

Have you seen these up against the Black Series 6" range? The Black Series are terrible sculpts compared to these.

I wonder if displaying the Revell 1:14 scale Landspeeder with these guys would look odd, considering the characters are sitting down in the Lanspeeder.

Thats all they're showing up till Sept,....the 4th of Sept is 'Force Friday',...thats the day that The Force Awakens merchandise hits the press,....so hopefully Bandai will be showing off some nice stuff
Going back to the Sand-Trooper,....I must be dumb,....but I didn't realise there were so many differences in the regular & sand costume

I'm literally shoving my unfinished fine molds stuff off the bench at this point.
I feel bad because the falcon was a pretty big Christmas gift from the wife. But until I have the time and courage to correct those mandibles, it goes no where.

You can find the courage. Just do it. The beauty of the Falcon is that you can hack at it and if it's a little rough, hey, it's a piece of junk! Just thin one corner of the hull near one end of the mandible from the inside (use a Dremel or else just carefully whittle the material away) and then use an exacto to open up a thin hole between the mandible and the hull. Then use a fine tooth jig saw or coping saw blade to slowly start sawing the pieces apart. Keep the blade flat to the mandible. You'll make some scratches -- and there's putty for that. Even working carefully it should take no more than 20 minutes to separate the mandible.

Actually, the bigger issue isn't the mandibles -- those are relatively easy -- it's the jaw boxes. To get the correct toe-in you also need to remove the jaw boxes from the hull plates, narrow the boxes toward the bow and thin them slightly so they have a lower profile to the hull. Once that's all done, you'll be able to angle the mandibles in without them hitting the jaw boxes. Piece of cake. But don't get me started on fixing the hull curvature...
