Bandai release schedule

What makes you think that? Don't get me wrong, I would be as pleased as Punch, if true.

I don't know for certain, but considering that Hasbro and Revell have made public announcements regarding TFA future products and there has been nothing regarding Bandai, I'm only taking evidence from that. That's not saying that their license doesn't include TFA, prequels, sequels and spinoffs...they could just be a very good licensee with their PR department being closed lipped on future releases. They're less likely to get bombarded with questions and news leaks to the public if you say nothing...look at the rumours on the huge Star Destroyer or the Darth Vader TIE Fighter.

Well, if Bandai DIDN'T get the TFA license, we will be spared from some of those new awful vehicles like the first order snowspeeder.

I think that snow speeder looks pretty cool,....industrial

.....I wonder how much screen-time it gets though

I'm keeping my hopes up,....If they don't have the licence, why are they not letting us know whats on the schedule OT-wise after September,......no-one is (supposed to be) allowed to reveal TFA merchandise until Sept 4th......so again,....why keep quiet about old stuff

.....who has TFA licence for Japan,....does Revell cover there also?

I think Bandai is really good at keeping secrets. I don't think anyone in the hobby, outside of Bandai insiders, knew they were going to take over the Star Wars license prior to the All Japan Model and Hobby Show last year.

Interestingly enough, that show is coming up again at the end of September. I would expect any announcement then.

After August they are releasing the Surevu Slave One and Fett. But yeah, I would expect that they would announce something more significant by now. I guess we wait until September for more announcements.
It's going to be a long couple of weeks.

I work for a Japanese based company and from what I have learned, Japanese businesses (for the most part) have an honour based culture. Perhaps Bandai is respecting their contract to the letter and only reveal what Disney implicitly allows.

Just my two cents. Perhaps some of our members from Japan can verify if Revell kits occupy shelf space in the hobby stores.

Just received my two Bandai Y-wing kits! . . . . A very nice kit with lots of tiny detail!
Me too! I'm happy with them. It's a totally different approach. They're "snap" kits alright but very detailed & precise, and you almost don't need any paint (exept for the weathering and certain engine details). Yes, the yellow stripes are actually seperate plastic, but the fit is nice & tight. It's amazing to see all those "found items" (model kit parts) faithfully reproduced at such a tiny scale. Considering that the Fine Molds Y-wing might not be in production right now (?) and/or their price seems to have gone way up, Bandai's is a nice alternative. But there are no decals for the droids, you'll have to paint them yourself (or use Fine Molds!). It's advantageous to have both kits. Bandai's is designed to build into a "Gold Leader" only. With some work you can build it as another ship. Of course you can glue it & paint it just like any other model. Doing so will make it even better. Lots of "extra" parts (2 canopies, one closed, one open & clear; 2 droids, 3 pilots with 2 different helmets, deathstar surface stand with articulate mount). And yes, a 1/48 scale version of this would be fantastic . . . (without the seperate parts to represent different colors)

I've always been meaning to ask: is the Revell Y-Wing the same mold as the old MPC "snap" kits?

In no way are these similar to any other kit, if you like the subjects don't sit on the fence with these they are very details, as soon as mine arrive I'll post details and compare with the other kit I have which is the amt ertl y- wing

I'm confused. I have had the the MPC/Ertl kit and I've seen pics of the Revell kit. And I can't find any reason to buy either of them. Essentially, IMHO, they both kinda suck, and if ILMwannabe is on the fence about either, he should just keep his Bandai kits.

Sorry I thought you were asking about comparing the bandai with ertl, I'll post them as soon as they come, someone else can comment on the revell

Thanks for your info. & replies. Yes, I was never on the fence about the Bandai kits, I was just curious about what the Revell Y-Wing kit looked like. I bought the ERTL Y-Wing when it first came out because it was the only Y-Wing plastic kit available (there was no "RPF" at the time! And no garage kits that I knew of). Then I bought the Fine Molds kits and I'm very happy with them, and now the Bandai Y-Wing, which I'm thrilled with. Revell is a good model kit company, but I suspected that they might have used the old ERTL molds because I could never find a good picture of one built, so I never bought it. I didn't think they would want to spend money on new tooling. My curiosity remained.

This having been said, both Fine Molds & Bandai put the ERTL Y-Wing to shame, but I still don't know anything about the Revell version . . . size? detail?(I have no plans of buying the Revell anyway. I suspect it might not be as good).

Not at all! It's no contest!

I have to say....this is becoming a very frustrating thread to come to.

I NEED to see what they have planned for next year. This is killing me!!!!!!!
