Bandai release schedule

I've always been meaning to ask: is the Revell Y-Wing the same mold as the old MPC "snap" kits?

The Revell kit is not the old ERTL tooling. If your curious on how the Revell kit compares to the Fine Molds kit, they are nearly the same size. I got some side by side shots of it with the Fine Molds one

Revell of course made some compromises like having the hoses/piping molded on without gaps to keep the parts count down, but overall I think it is fairly accurate shapewise and is probably closer in proportions and engine lengths to the Bandai one (which is based off a different studio model than the Fine Molds one)

Thank you very much for that Blakeh1! Yes the Revell is far better than the ERTL. And your build makes it look really good. Finally got to see one built. From what I see in your pictures, I still prefer the FM & Bandai, especially the shape of the front apex of the engines.

It looks like they lifted the "Order Stop" on the Sandtrooper on Hobby Link Japan. Just ordered two more.

I've noticed the Sandtrooper goes in and out of "Order Stop", it's currently back at full stop. I think I have seen it for the Y-wing as well.

I wonder if it is cancellations or are they being told they will get more of them?

They should be released any day now (considering it's Thursday morning in Japan, as I type this).

It might depend on their production line. If things go well they can crank out a lot of stock. If there are problems they may not be able to keep up with preorders. I'm sure it's a bit of a guessing game as to which models to make enough of to meet demand. For instance, I currently have three sandtroopers on order but I only ordered one scout trooper and bike.

"Order Stop" usually happens on pre-ordered items at HLJ; I think it happens before they've confirmed when they're getting in stock.

You know, I really hope they get into some of the clone stuff. Especially the troops. There's a lot of room for colour combos/battle damage there. And the vehicles all had so many great paint variations

A magazine scan of the Fett stuff,.....crazy plastic colours,.....but I'll be painting:

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Bandai's original trilogy model kits. But I wish they'd say if they are doing anything for The Force Awakens, and if so, show what.

Revell has the TFA license and the kits they're putting out are pre-painted skill level 1 snap kits, most likely in box scale like their other Star Wars kits. So great news for scratch builders and those who like to heavily modify their kits just to make them look decent. :facepalm

Revell is really looking for first time builders. The instructions are on the box and even tells you what sound it makes when it goes together. :facepalm

Just noticed the TFA kits come with some kind of electronics. You can see a tad with an icon to the left, down. The X-wing says has a icon with "sound", TIE and Falcon "light" & "sound".

For being that basic they have the same price as Bandai's, I hope the detail and size is the same...
