Avengers Style Black Widow - Complete (New Photos 4.29.13)

Re: Black Widow Bodysuit - Now A Build Thread (Complete - 11.12.12)

Well done. This is an excellent example of working though issues to get a great looking finished project. Now it is all tweaking to appease that inner demon most here have. :)

Wow, looks really good!

Good budgeting on the dental floss and holsters. UTG is a very popular holster with the costumers.

Thanks. I was really impressed with the holsters, despite the fact they were so inexpensive. My little brother has already called dibs on them in the event that I upgrade.

Very good job! Some ingenious problem-solving. Now, gonna dye your hair?

Re: Black Widow Bodysuit - Now A Build Thread (Complete - 11.12.12)

I"m always in awe of people who can take ordinary objects and turn them into something else, in this case, the dental floss. This is a great build for having a tight budget. Looks great!

Thanks! It was actually a pleasant surprise that they turned out as well as they did :)

This turned out really well! I'd be interested to know if you had a link to the rubber belt tutorial you said you used? I must be missing it with search, and my attempt on my own fell pitifully flat, lol.

Re: Black Widow Bodysuit - Now A Build Thread (Complete - 11.12.12)

I am currently building a Black Widow costume and I am also interested in the rubber belt idea.

By the way, I have 3D printed a fairly screen accurate buckle if you are interested.. ;)

Re: Black Widow Bodysuit - Now A Build Thread (Complete - 11.12.12)

Sorry for the delayed response but I didn't see your posts until just now. It seems that the thread that I had based my belt design off of it now gone, but it wasn't really much of a tutorial. Basically at Home Depot, or any other big home and hardware place, you can buy strips of ridged rubber designed to go underneath a door to prevent drafts and bugs from getting in. Some places sell them pre-cut and others you have to have trimmed in store. I bought a pre-cut one for about $3. At home I just applied a couple thin coats of acrylic paint to the rubber (back and front) and let it dry in between. Then I cut it down to the right length for my waist. To secure the buckles on either end I just looped the rubber through the end of a set a parachute buckles and secure it with gorilla glue. It was probably the simplest part of the costume making process. If you can't find the stripping let me know and I can swing by the store by me and get an actual brand name. Hope this helps!

Also, MisterXero - how much would want for the buckle, if it's still available?

Great suit! I think my favorite part is the googly eyes you added to the dental floss cases....looks great!

Are you Scarlett Johansson's stunt double? Your a spitting image of her. Nice outfit!

Re: Black Widow - Complete (New Pics - 4.29.13))

Took the full thing out to C2E2 this weekend, and this time I finally had a decent looking wig. It wasn't perfect, but considering that it didn't make me break out in hives it was already a massive improvement from the first one I tried. Anyway, I got a few decent pictures so I thought I'd share them here:

I forgot to take my rings off. Oops...

The only other Avenger I got a picture with on Saturday. How is that even possible??

This little doppleganger found me mid-way through the show and in no uncertain terms told me we HAD to take a picture together. how could I refuse?!

I got called onto the Marvel stage at one point and I got to hold the shield! All in all not bad for my first costumed convention. Now I just need to work on my poses (and on not making weird facial expressions when I'm trying to look serious) and I should be set for next year.

Thanks for everyone who helped me out of this one!

Costume turned out great and you make a great Black Widow. And you totally look like Heather Locklear, which is super foxy.

Nice pics.Especially you said this was your first? Your natural hair complements your suit a little more than the red.

Thanks. I actually hate wearing the wigs, but I figured if I was going to do this cosplay thing properly, I should at least be a red head for a few hours. Maybe I'll get lucky and ScarJo will go blonde in Winter Soldier.

Costume looks great! Especially for a budget build!

I agree though, skrew the red hair, just rock the blonde, you look great!
