The sequel should be about people on earth dying by the millions. Everything is falling apart. And then the president or somebody important steps up and gives a "We will not go silently into the night" type speech. Desperate people are willing to go very far when they are pushed suffienctly hard. It should be a "it's us or them" situation.
It's "we tried to be nice, it's time to get out there and spank the blue monkeys time" RDA is pushed aside and another corporation steps in like Weyland-Yutani or Tyrell and they send an army of Quaritch Clones ...
Essentially the humans firebomb Pandora and turn it into a concrete parking lot. The tree of life is obliterated by a 50 megaton nuke. The surviving Na'vi are on the run to the remote corners of the planet. All seems lost by the end of the movie, until a human guard notices one of Eywa's seeds and he turns around and sees millions of them ... End movie, bring on part three.
The third part will see that Pandora was just as ****ty as Earth, and probably even worse at some point (where did all that carbon dioxide come from ?) but was saved by becoming a huge genetic experiment lead by a biological computer called Eywa. Eywa doesn't destroy the humans, they are assimilated into the network and there is a split. Those who understand than Eywa can save earth and humanity and those who resist the idea and believe the others are being brainwashed. In the end the surviving humans and some Na'vi go to earth to plant a seed from Eywa and give earth a chance for a new beginning. Everybody hugs and plugs into trees, bugs and other furry critters and starts to sing Kumbaya.
