Art Asylum / Diamond Select TOS Phaser build with metal parts.

On pistol phaser, velcro was on one side of the hand phaser, covering silver midplate/rail. They would paint a line of silver paint directly on velcro to simulate the midplate. You can see this clearly on the HERO pistol phaser, of all things....no idea WHY they would screw up the hero phaser this way as I can't imagine it spent much time on an actor's belt/pants, but I imagine it must have, either that or the velcro was slapped on the hero phaser for little reason.

go here and scroll down to see Greg Jein's hero phaser...

there was also a hero phaser seen in Conscience of the King and then again in Court Martial that did NOT have the velcro on it...but maybe it was added at a later time...or maybe there were a couple hero phasers, some with and some without the velcro.

On hand phasers, it was simply on the bottom, which I believe was already mentioned.

Wow, great pics, thanks. I would never have expected the painted in strip along the velcro.

One thing I did to my phaser already was to add a little button to the hand phaser, you know, the button that's sometimes there, & sometimes not depending on the particular phaser. :lol
Also, I opened the handle up & filled it with sculpy clay- that makes a world of difference how it feels in my hand.
But that was just quick, simple stuff.

What button?:confused

Here are a couple of photos of the P2 with the metal parts attatched. They fit nicely!:) What do you think so far?

The red (sometimes blue) button between the hand phaser strength setting control & the clear indicator.

Ok I know what your talking about. The led in the middle. I was thinking of adding a working led on the P1 but not sure if I want to make it the jewel style or plain led bulb.

Thanks! I still have work to do on it, but it is coming along nicely. I still have to get the P1 ready as well.

It's the same type that's on the communicator. But I never saw it light up on the phaser.
BTW: I saw on documentary footage JJ Abrams playing with a top of the line TOS phaser with metal parts, and he STILL HAD IT REDESIGNED!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! WTF????

Yes the 3 rinestones on the communicator. I will have to attempt it on the P1.

Which phaser did JJ have? And hes got to be fussy:lol

The phaser's looking great.

There were two styles of jewel on the original P1s, the most commonly seen looks like a blue LED with a metal bezel, but was actually a watch crown. Search Ebay for "sapphire watch crown" and you'll find several available.

Here's a Jlong P1 build I did that I added a watch crown to.

The other was red, and appears to not have a bezel. It's most likely just a red rhinestone, though there were red watch crowns too. We've done extensive study of the Bluray screen caps on The Trek Prop Zone on this, sign up to see it :)

Thanks for the comment and the info on the P1 jewel! You did a good job on the Jlong P1 and the jewel looks nice. I'm not sure which style I will go with, I was thinking of making it a working light. I might try and copy the one at federationphaser with the blue rhinestone and aluminum bezel but the watch crown style does look good.
