Art Asylum / Diamond Select TOS Phaser build with metal parts.

What do you think about it :confused

Never seen better work anywhere anyway anyhow. That's just brilliant.:thumbsup

That curved power meter dial is starting to grow on me. The gear wheel lifts the sight and the power meter dials up the different sounds/phaser shots. I know it isn't cannon to the original, but it actually seems to be an improvement of sorts.

I don't think the control wheel is all that inaccurate. The original plans called for two push button controls in that space, which was changed to the clear dome. We only think of the sight wheel as a setting control because of the Franz Joseph tech manual, but his descriptions were mostly made up and didn't follow the original design specs. So I just see the dome on the prop as a simulated setting wheel, it makes a lot of sense.

Anyone have the federationphaser mod with the vibrating motor? I have a modded AA/DST phaser with a pager in it that Dave Lewis did and it buzzes pretty loud when the triggher is pushed andf starts to compete with the phaser sound. How does the Federation AA/DST phaser sound when it vibrates?

I have just bought a pager motor from him along with his handle parts for my next build and its just your basic pager motor. I plan on making it were the pager stays on all the time when you press the trigger but I think his pulse with the sound effects which is kinda of cool.

About to start work on my phaser handle power pack. Want it to be bronze colored so I have to get some of these parts prepped and ready for painting. But first it's time to start the assembly, let the show begin.:popcorn

I think this will turn out really well.:thumbsup
I look forward to seeing this get done.

Thanks for your confidence! This will be the first time I put one of these together. Getting the inside electrical together will probably be the hardest part of the assembly.

Getting the Hubbell plug ready for a test fit after removing the casing. Still needs a little grinding to fit inside the handle.:love

Hopefully the threaded rod is cut to the correct length. :confused

Finished up the inside electrical connections and doing a test fit before the final gluing into position. So far it's coming along nicely.:)

Thanks Chris!

Test fit is complete and it works perfectly. :)

Had to enlarge the center hole a little bit so the threaded rod would fit through the end cap more easily and clean up the bottom plate. But other than that they look nice.

Just need to finish up the sanding of the parts and it will be ready for painting.:love

Nice work!! We really are starved for a better TOS phaser like the Master Replicas but maybe lighter with less metal and lower cost than what the MR's go for on EBay today. With EFX Collectibles out of the picture I wonder if a TOS high end phaser will show up again.

Thanks redshirt!

I agree with you why wait. I think this handle is just right as far as the weight issue. The handle is made of a durable plastic and the bottom end caps are metal so it has a good feel to it. Not too heavy and not too light.

Here is the handle with its new metallic bronze paint job. I'm going to wait another day or so before assembling it completely but figured I let everyone get a sneak peak. :love

I'm very satisfied of the results so far:)
What do you think :confused
