Anyone planning on picking up the Target Helmets and "improving" on them?

I wouldn't be surprised if we see these helmets pop up again somewhere else, although I can't shake the feeling that the price would probably be higher. Either way, I snagged another Fett and a Kylo Ren. That brings me up to 6 helmets in various stages of completion ayayaye! I need to get crackin'!

Look what passed through work today.......

About 50 cases.
I doubt they'll miss a couple.;)

I've snagged a Stormtrooper and a Fett. I think it seems ludicrous to discontinue these after so short a time. I highly doubt Rubie's will have worn out the steel dies for the injection molding, the tooling of which represents a significant investment, and there's plenty of money to be made yet. I find myself wondering if the "Target exclusive" was just for Halloween, so they could get an early jump, and other retailers (and maybe Target under a different SKU) will get them just before Christmas...

Just because Target is discontinuing these SKU's doesn't mean Rubie's is discontinuing them. Target does this all the time

I realy need to get my hands on one of those Kylo Ren helmets , realy impressed with them :), not sure how accurate they are!

Pretty sure I saw the Stormie on eBay in different Rubies packaging (Halloween release?) for a higher price. The helmet looked the same to me, 2 pieces, cloth mesh eyes, 3 holes in the frown for ventilation. This is probably the 2 piece you see on the Halloween Store sites and such.

Finished up my Rubies Kylo Ren this evening

given that I've not seen the top, back or sides of the actual prop I know it's not going to be accurate :lol

the silver face details are a little messy but ok at a distance

I like weathering so I weathered it

think it turned out OK

glad this thread pointed me towards them :)

anybody know the right measurements for the length of the stalk from right ear rim to RF, also small piece connected to the RF? not lenth of the whole stalk cause Rubies is different.

I see different sizes, but if any could measure their MR, AF, FP, etc stalk I would greatly appreciated. I'm going to extend my stock stalk with styrene sheets.
thx

Only one Kylo was left at Target and of course was broke. The helmet was so big it looked like "Dark Helmet" on me. Maybe if they get some non broken helmets I might buy one to serve candy out of

Put my Target Boba Fett back together this evening, it all just clipped back together as it came (just took a little persuasion to clip in place with all the layers of paint :lol)

paint is all spray paint & maskol, I know it's not 100% accurate as such but this was my first attempt at a Boba Fett & a good learning experience

sure I could do a little more weathering in places but I'm happy enough for now

I really like these Target helmets for the price I didn't mind just having a go at painting, paints ended up costing me at least twice what the helmet itself did

First attempt huh, good job, would be happy with a result like that on my wall.

Also I dig the pic of all the finished pieces layed out.

How come on some of these posts I cant see the pic, and it just says "attached photo" on the bottom of the post with no pic....?

Paint job looks great!

One thing I might suggest, doing a blackwash over the entire thing. Still looks great regardless.

thanks :)

I haven't really tried to do any of the finer scratches etc or achieve that kinda all over dirty patina that you see on the original helmets (yet)

I really didn't try anything clever in terms of mods just a repaint

deliberately left the RF stalk short (as it comes) rather than replace with a more accurate one because if it had been any taller it wouldn't have fitted on the shelf :lol
