Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Thanks everyone!

Here's a few pictures of some of the latest models for everyone to check out. Everything has been tweaked to it's peak for these models I believe, so soon I guess it will be time for us to start working on phase two of the project. Getting these things made!

We've been working on these constant for many months now, so everyone please let us know what you think! ;)

A HUGE thanks to everyone who has contributed also! And a HUGE thanks as well to Markus(OdiWan72) for all of his help with the Scope, he has been extremely generous and helped us a great deal to get the necessary details as close to a real H&W scope as possible!

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Thats some nice CAD work Deadbolt.

I just hope to God you, or Kapax aren't another Razzmeister sockpuppet.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not throwing an accusation out there. I am just overly cautious after Raz put one over on us last time, while researching this very prop.
Sorry for the slight negativity, its hard to know who to trust on a board this size.

I am relatively new here and do not know about the Raz story but from what you say, it sounds bad.

I know that Carson and I got into this so we could make a great set of parts for our own personal models and the whole project just took off thanks to all the RPF members who followed and contributed with observation, constructive criticism and the love for this prop.

If anyone can suggest how best to proceed we are open to any ideas. Now that Carson has completed this incredible work, (after many many months of work) I hope to be getting a quote on the parts very shortly.

After that we will need to figure out how best to proceed.

I for one can not wait to get a set to check out!

Again, Many Many thanks to Carson for the dedication and hundreds of man hours perfecting these many parts!

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! GREAT WORK! Can't wait to see this all made. I friggin need a job so I can buy ALL the parts! :cry

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

AMAZING STUFF!!!

I especially like the barrel sleeve :thumbsup
While my Han ANH hero will be build on a real deac. C96, I might use this barrel sleeve for my MGC based MerrSonns. I guess you also have this version covered, right ;) !?

AGAIN...GREAT WORK gentlemen.
A huge thanks to YOU guys :cheers

Regarding how to proceed:
Do you plan to have a prototype set of conversion parts machined or will it all be done at once?
Post an interest-thread in the JY to get an idea about the number of needed parts.
As soon as you have the quote, start to collect down-payments for each order!
This way you won´t have to deal with all those "INTERESTED, then never be heard again-customers".

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

And since I can´t wait...here´s my "wish-list":

2x full scope mount/ cradle
1x Han ANH grill
1x flash-hider
1x barrel sleeve (real C96)
2x barrel sleeve (MGC C96)

Thanks,

Markus :cool

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Man, Oh, man. If you have that scope mount made in steel you will be my hero.

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Thanks allot everyone!

Although the sleeve barrel is designed to fit a real C96, it will most likely fit MGCs fairly decent as well. Unfortunately it probably won't fit too well on a Denix, but we are planning to do some accurate non-sleeve barrels to work with Denix/MGC also. :)

And optional steel parts have been near the top of my list also since the beginning, so we're definitely trying for those too! :D

As for the whole Raz thing, I can guarantee this is a 100% Raz-free project. I remember seeing the tail end of that whole fiasco in my teens. Considering my age, that dudes gotta have at least 20 years on me! :lol

Now, lets refrain from any discussions that will end in getting this thread locked!

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Does anyone have a really good color image (color corrected) of the blaster that shows the coloring of the FH and frame?

The ones I have seem to show that the frame/scope (not counting the brass parts) are a deep blue black and the FH is a dark silver/pewter. Just thinking about the anodizing.

I think the best way to protect these will be to anodize them with a base color as close as we can get to the HERO and let everyone finish as they prefer with antiquing, flat black paint or shoe polish etc. This way we have the option of leaving them pristine or aging as desired.

What do you think?

This is what I have for color:

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

With any luck (fingers crossed) I will be posting pics of the first parts in a few weeks!

I decided to take the plunge and purchase the first set so we can all see exactly what we are going to get.

...as Deadbolt said, we may also be able to make Steel mounts and FH's if the price is right!

We are trying to make the Grills available in both Aluminum and Black Delrin for the purists out there.

We are still trying to define the parts, finish, materials and hardware options as well as kits and part options.

We will update all this shortly.

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

BTW, watching RotJ on Bluray you can clearly see the seam in the 'radial' parts on Leia's blaster meaning two halves stuck together and not a one-piece plumbing part.

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

Nice catch...what scene?

Could it be molding "flash" parting line?

In any case, we need to make it one piece for turning on the lathe, but it will be made in Black Delrin and maybe Aluminum so it can be used for the Merr Sonn and ComLiknk parts... now all you have to do is find the white faucet parts for the ComLink!

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

I think the barrel and Flash Hider should be steel and not aluminum.

Definitely down for a set for my real Mauser

Re: ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion

More real Mausers around here than I thought!

Will you be sleeving the barrel or chopping and reshaping?

Can prob do a steel barrel as well. I'll keep you posted
