ANH Hero DL-44 Discussion - Three ANH Greeblies Found

I noticed a little scratch detail I thought interesting and since I had my replica out I thought I'd include it.

I think it must be some sort of force related sign...

Right between the rings... To my eye, it looks like... ANH...

; )

Nice replication detail. Unfortunately that can't possibly be ANH as it wasn't called that until well after its release right? Either it was added later by whomever or its simply coincidentally similar looking?

An archive somewhere must have some time-stamp markings or something similar on some of these references, it's hard to believe that there's only a single archive holding all of these and many other photos that haven't been seen yet. The proof-sheets even have the photographer's name on them..

Dare to dream, right? =b

Thanks! So cool to see the progression, some of those chips go back as far as that tilted shot

The docking bay scenes it’s doesn’t appear to be too weathered at that point. Or very little anyhow..

Also Solo really needs to relax and slow down before he hurts himself or the Falcon..View attachment 1550839
My favorite image of Ford firing the blaster.

Note the fireball from the blanks ! That is the real blank going off not a VFX. Note Fords "aim" and closed eyes!
He did not like firing this thing!

I think there is a BTS where you can see this shot being filmed too.

I think that's why they switched to the MGCs... ; )

These are those ESB guns up close (thanks to scottjua I believe)

MGC? Who knows... I don't think so. MGCs are easier to spot. Here's an MGC from Empire, used in Norway for the Probe Droid shots.

On topic, I LOVE those shots under the falcon!

It took me a minute to find, but here's the straight-on view of the Hero prop that I was looking for. Somebody had previously wanted to see how far off the scope mount's uprights the thumb screw protruded, and I remembered that I'd seen an image that showed it well enough once before.

I’ve seen this pic before as well. Kind of hard to truly see those specific details here though. You know what always sticks out to me with this picture? It’s the angle inwards at which the scope rests.

There are images that show the thumbnut sticking WAY out and some that look very short.

I think it varied due to the tightness of the screw.

There is a video clip in ST that shows Reed turning the nut quite a number of times to tighten. It "could" have been left looser in some promo images depending of if they assembled it for the shoot.

The NR etc gun was in a case with scope taken off and separate. "Maybe" they shipped/carried the blaster with scope removed?

May also help account for the many different scrapes and assembly image discrepancies.?

Sort of like the way Luke's lightsaber images are each a bit different due to the twisting of the tube housings so details line up differently in some images.?

Who knows....

no really.... who knows? ; )

enhanced a bit.

I wonder if, here, the thumbnut on the magazine well was tightened first, and the rear one was tightened after. Maybe the bar is tilted a bit with the tapered front of the frame - assuming the welded nuts are parallel to whatever surface they're welded too.

on my first Denix blaster I beveled the front spacer to make them level

Pretty sure the scope is just sitting in the mount tilted at an angle here, the mount is straight.

The mount is most definitely not straight on the Mauser. It’s angled upwards. They tapped the holes off center to each other. It can easily happen when building these so it makes sense it happened here as well. I’m referring to how the scope itself is rotated clockwise..
