If you can't grasp what I'm saying than you obviously don't have a clue what you're talking about. I'm not bashing Taylor's suit, nor am I am I saying his colours are inaccurate. It is a clear fact that the dye sublimation won't ever be as "whole" or vivid as using traditiomal screen printing on colour fast fabric. So zip it bitchez!

I actually happen to think that Taylor's suit is the best I've come across and I look forward to seeing what Jeff can do with it.

If that is aimed at me read what i said, I never once accused you of bashing Taylors work or MCL34N'S i just said your monitor must be crap to not see the colors properly that you so clearly stated looked washed out.

I understand what supernaturalfan is saying, Taylor and Mcl43n both print on white lycra, There is nothing wrong with that but the colors are more brighter lets say if it was printed on red or blue lycra.

since im in the second run of taylor's spidey suit, Im reading all and everything related with suit (eyes creation, puffy paint, sewing tips, etc...).

I've got a puffy paint related doubt (anyone able, please feel dree to answer it).

Do you need to get "slick puffy" paint? I mean, I've got acces here where I live to Red, black and all sort of colors from Tulip brand.
Got access to glitter, slick and puffy (but not "slick puffy" In case it exist). So I've got the option to get puffy red OR slick red.

Which one must be used? I love the "plastic" details that turns out once 3d paint aplied, but dont know if Puffy one will be too thick or not; or If slick one will be not enough to give the nice details.
Anyone have tested both?

When comparing this to Mcl34n's pattern, Taylor's looks to me as if it is not as heavily shaded for the muscle pattern. Would this be an accurate observation or is it just me?

I can garauntee that they won't as mine is screen printed on top of actual red lycra, whereas Taylor's suit is dye sub'd lycra. If you look at both Taylor's and MCL34N's prints they can appear washed out or pastely, this is beacuse of the printing process, this is what I was trying to avoid. But to answer your question, no, they probably won't. Sorry.

I don't mean to sound like a jerk or anything, but if you haven't seen either of our costumes in person how can you say they look washed out? I know you don't mean to offend either of us, so no hard feelings. Printing on white lycra can cause the colors to look washed out when it's stretched, but I custom size each print to specifically avoid that. Silk screening on colored lycra would definitely help, but that would take a lot more time and money. I look forward to seeing what you come up with if you go with that method!

By the way, the attitude towards other members just for disagreeing with you is unnecessary.

When finished with a complete ASM suit. Is it necessary to have the faceshell to make the suit better? Is there a difference in having a faceshell and not? Hope I can have an expert answer this.

I would say a faceshell could be the difference between a good costume and a great costume. It's definitely worth the extra money.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm talking about Taylor, when the fabric is stretched the print can show imperfections in the print. Also, the shimmer from the fabric translates across all elements of the print, which is why dye sub'd prints can sometimes appear lighter or washed out. I considered all of these things with my masks, as did you, which is why YOU know what I'm talking about Taylor.

I thought the same thing when I first saw the front spider, but Taylor said that once you sew the gap that is above the spider, its feet will get a curve to the inside part of the suit, so it will look like the movie one.

Shoes and Puff on Pattern

Some minor updates...

I finished the shoes. I masked the silver sections off with masking tape and used an x-acto to trim it. I hoped the edges would have come out a little cleaner. But from a distance (like sanding up and looking down at the shoes on the floor) you can't really tell.

For the red part I used deep red acrylic paint. It took about 7 or 8 coats. For those attempting this project, put the paint on in very thin layers and gave it ample time to dry between coats. You will get some brush strokes at first but they will fade after a couple coats. If you put the paint on thick or don't wait long enough for it to dry, the paint will start to peel of under your brush. I used a blowdryer on a low/cool setting to speed up the drying process.

For the blue part I used a blue sharpie. I was going to use blue acrylic paint but after a small test, the paint tends to crack when bent. This is not a problem for the back of the shoes, because the back should not be bending at all. The rubber sole however will. With the blue sharpie method you will get some marker lines, but as I said before, from a short distance you can't tell.

I stared on applying the puff paint to the print. I think I will end up going with another tip. With the stock tip it was very difficult to get consistent lines working on such a small area. I'm hoping it will be easier with a new tip that limits the flow. It doesn't look too bad but I figure I better fix it early before it becomes a problem.

Dude those shoes look excellent! Good advice about using Sharpies in the lower portion. I'll remember that.

And from that picture, I'd say you're doing great on the hex pattern so far. But if it is already proving to be difficult, you should go with your gut and explore other options. Perhaps it will be worth it to use those bottles with the metal tips after all? But I totally understand your reservations about pouring all of the paint into a different bottle.
