Are you leaving any room for stitching with your puffys coming to the edge?
Or is that what the white area is for?

Re: Amazing Spiderman Suit using TaylorMcManus' print (Pic Heavy)

He's actually got a HUGE seam allowance, about 3/4" to 1" if I'm not mistaken. The seams are mostly sewn on the black lines. Anything past there gets taken up in the seam and won't be seen.

...so there are a lot of hand painted hexagons that are going to literally end up on the cutting room floor with this suit.

Your puff painting looks so good!! This is kind of a weird question, but do you think you could take a short video of you applying the paint to make the hexagons? I don't really understand how you do it, just hold it like a pencil? A short description might work just as well actually... if you have time! Keep at it, looks great

Great idea the pattern for the eye! But do you will see through them with all the exagon black?!

Re: Amazing Spiderman Suit using TaylorMcManus' print (Pic Heavy)

For reference, those bottles are availible at Michaels, I have been using them for years to apply glues

Awesome photos, great job keeping the lines clean and lastly

I hope you don't go blind!

You're really doing a great job! That's probably the cleanest honeycomb work I've seen.

Re: Eye Pattern and Dried Puff Paint

I went to all of my local craft stores and I couldn't find any of the tips i was looking for. I had to order them online so I am platting the waiting game for them to arrive. On a positive note: I found them online for $1.49 each! At that price I purchased 12 to play it safe. :)

While I have this 'time' I decided to work on the eyes. I'm going with TaylorMcManus' idea and prating on transparencies and using gold window tint to give the reflective effect. It took me about 2 hours in Photoshop to get the pattern just right, but I think I did! The size of the hexagons look perfect! (to me at least) I am luckily enough to have a laser printer at home so I was able to print them out right here. (You need to have them prated on a laser printer, inkjet will smudge) Here are some pics along with my reference image.

The gold tint is on order and should be here in a couple days. Now to figure out how to make the frames... :/

The honeycomb pattern seems too big. You should use mine at my Amazing Spiderman lenses WIP thread. I have a reverse honeycomb pattern file there. Just right click and save it. Print it out as A4 size. That will make yours look better.

Joelai you mean print your reverse pattern on a transparent sheet like Jeffscpu says?

Re: Amazing Spiderman Suit using TaylorMcManus' print (Pic Heavy)

Thanks for the tip!! After looking at the pattern again, it's looks like I am doing a lot of extra work. Ah, it was good practice! The pieces are coming along much faster now.

The longer I looked at it, I stared to think the same thing. I resized my pattern and it looks much better.

Your lenses turned out great! In the matter of saving time, if you are doing a second run I'd love to order a set. Applying the puff paint it taking longer than expected. It's such a detailed and tedious process I can only work on it for a half hour at a time before my hands start to cramp up.

Anyway, keep me updated if you do a second run of lenses! (I posted on your thread also)
