The sad part of the whole thing is that the forgery sold for more than the actual hero phaser.
Yep that's what happens when threats of lawsuits are involved....

I would not be surprised if he threatened to sue the auction house if it didn't sell for what he was expecting
 
Just caught up. I know nothing about Star Wars props. This thread was an all-timer though. Thanks for the ride knowledgable people. It's always appreciated.

It's a rather obvious forgery.

To be blunt my Shanko midgrade is a better replica:

I always appreciate the forgeries with those little red/blue/gold threads stuck in the Velcro, because that OBVIOUSLY proves their authenticity, right?
I actually find them annoying....

Yet this is the only phaser I own that I've never had any desire to do any mods to for whatever reason...

I always thought it was the excess wear and tear on the paint job in all the areas that the hands would come into contact with the proves they are the REAL DEAL....... lolzzzz
