I am a software developer, who has had a keen interest in the space program and astronomy since a youth in the 1960s. My primary interest is the Viking '75 project which landed two spacecraft on Mars in 1976 (I still remember watching the live TV coverage that day). In 2013 I began a long-term project to create a detailed high-fidelity 3D digital model of the Viking lander hardware. An album of work-in-progress renderings is available. The work-in-progress 3D model itself, in SketchUp format, is also available.
