Ron "asked" me to edit this to remove my "lies" about him. Which I will NOT be doing cause I didn't say anything everyone doesn't already know.

Threats get absolutely NO WHERE with me.

Integrity goes a long way.

Also, it was one of my all-time favorite RPF moments when Shanko popped up in this very thread, someone mentioned that he was supposed to be banned (and yet was somehow unbanned), and then he was banned again.

It fits nicely with the overall craziness of this whole situation.

Yes it does....

This whole situation with fake phasers and BS' restoration jobs really aren't that much of a surprise.

I DO wonder what happened the "Jein Midgrade" JPL was allowed to examine.....

An those "dozens of midgrade molds" just imagine having to make all those molds when there was probably a dozen phasers at best but ....:rolleyes:

Yes, I can't imagine the show having more than, say, ten or so midgrades. We have evidence for four or so heroes, ten communicators, and two hero tricorders. With rare exception, no more than 3-6 phasers appeared in a given scene.

I had just rewatched the vid with JPL being a phaser "expert" and was reflecting on some of the obvious lies like:

"It would be impossible for all the mid-grades to come from the same molds and have matching parts when they could only be built IF there was enough money in the episode to have the required phasers" <------- Like that is even remotely possible

Exactly.

Anyone who knows anything about the history of the props can poke holes in statements like that.

Just like how no black and white phasers should still exist, since they were all apparently repainted and modified, early on. And yet fake B&W props have still been sold off, in the past.

And both the heroes and midgrades should all have come from the sane molds, with the main difference being how they were trimmed (fatter for the heroes, so as to accommodate the internals).

Agreed, the phaser inventory production memo I found mentions 10 "Plastic Guns" along with the 4 "practical" (hero) phasers. This memo is dated 7-14-66 which was before the mid-grades appeared (I think from memory in "Devil in the Dark" which filmed in January, of 1967) so the "Plastic Guns" would be the crapazoids but it's hard to imagine that they would need more than 10 mid-grades and maybe even less since they still had the craps to supplement the mids and heros.

There ya go.

And even if they ditched the crapazoids entirely in favor of the midgrades, it seems likely that they would have made ten or so midgrades to replace them.

I never understood the terminology here.

4 plastic guns (includes 1 & 2) without power packs? How would you even use something like that? Or 4 #2 dummy guns. Is that supposed to be a crapozid p2 without the p1 in it, and no power pack handle.

They may well have built dummy P2 bodies without handles or P1s, just in case they were ever needed.

After all, we only saw the dummy handles just once, in "The Omega Glory".

I was always impressed with the collection in the shuttle craft storage. And oddly enough Scotty’s phaser doesn’t have the silver parts on the P1 or P2.
