Alien: Isolation

Ha.. the first tip is to watch the movie. That's fine, but this part gets me: "I recommend renting and watching the original film before you play". What kind of self-respecting fan, the kind of person who would buy this game on day one, doesn't already own a copy? I've got this one on Blu-ray even, the only one of the set that I upgraded from DVD.
Ooo, good tip!

Mine keeps staring at me on the shelf. I need to hold off for another day before I start playing though. I was going to wait but I won't :lol. I have a four day weekend this week so I think I'll spend much of that time as I can sneaking around and being quiet.

I bought the 4-movie box set for VHS, the alien quadrilogy DVD set and also the bluray set :p

I actually don't have a copy of the original movie yet. I have Aliens only because walmart had the directors cut in the 5.00 bin one day. I've got so many dvds in need to grab it's not funny.

Mine should be here friday, the free graphic novel code is about useless as you have to have the dark horse app or read it on their webside only instead of giving us a pdf copy like most companies would.

I was going to take Jedi2016's tip and watch the movie first(I have the Blu Ray trilogy:angel), and while flipping through channels I saw that Alien was playing on Starz, Encore, or some such this early evening. How convenient :lol. So now that that is out of the way, I'll start playing tomorrow night.

Same here, however I also bought the deluxe box set laserdiscs of Alien and Aliens at a hundred bucks each. :)

I had those. For the time they were very impressive sets! I have to laugh now when I hear someone complain about paying $29 for a bluray.

Been playing the ps4 ripley version. It's amazingly cool.
The atmosphere is just right and they got the surround sound down pat too. Super creepy.
The alien is pretty scary and u do feel isolated and sucked into the world.
The graphics are ok but it's the tension that nabs u.
Your first encounter with the alien is scary just run lol
This game is certainly about stealth. If u start battling you've already lost. Humans are about the only prey easy to kill. Hit em in the head from behind.

Enjoy. I'm onto shadows if Mordor tomorrow lol

I made the mistake of starting with Shadow of Mordor, now i can't get into the headspace of a slower paced game. I try playing it but I just keep wanting to go back and baby my orc army and punish usurpers to my warchiefs!

***** H. ******!

The VHS set cost me like 600-700 SEK(100 bucks) the dvd set half that price and the bluray set for a measly 99 SEK($14). Should definitely be the other way around.

This game is just masterful, created by people who clearly cared about the source material. I'm not far into the game yet because i've been waiting until night to play it, but I was sold in the first 5 minutes. I really can't express in writing just how good it is, from the level design to the sound engineering, the writing and the excellent use of the "unseen enemy" scenario. Everything you interact with has weight, the old station groans and creaks when doors are opened and systems are activated. Sound is used so effectively in this game that I frequently wonder if my ears are playing tricks on me, was that noise I just heard the ship, or was it something else? I am playing with a very good pair of headphones which adds to the immersion.

This is a game I would put up shoulder to shoulder against anything else out right now. Wether you like Alien or not is really irrelevant because the game crafts its envrioment so effectively that it stands on its own, though fans of the movie will enjoy it even more. The world was clearly built to look like Ron Cobb himself had designed it, they extrapolated details from the Nostromo and expanded it into an entire universe.

You just have to play the game. Here's some more screenshots from the full-spec PC version I took for you guys.

Apparently the first 5-6 hours of the game is AMAZING and the rest is not :unsure
I'll get it anyway. The graphics alone is worth it :p

Nice screenshots by the way! Looking at them I just noticed something new: they have added chromatic aberration making the graphics even more realistic :D

The graphics look pretty sweet, good thing I plan on waiting until it goes on sale before getting the game, hopefully by that time I'll have a system that'll be able to do the graphics justice. I'd hate it to try to play it on my current system and have to crank down the settings just to get a halfway decent frame rate.

This game really is quite scary, I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that fighting the Alien is simply not an option. All you can do is hide.

I've watched a couple of Walkthrus of the game, and can't help but laugh because the users either don't pay attention to their surroundings or attempt to run (which were two tips from the article shown here). It was quite surprising though a couple of times, and I couldn't help but laugh at these users' reactions.

Coolest Easter Egg I've found so far...

When you enter the area & encounter the 1st android, the one that tells you to have a seat & wait, If you walk down the stairs & to the left, there's a chair that has a small origami unicorn on it.

Made me grin like an idiot.:D

Nice Blade Runner easter egg catch.

BTW, when it comes to the Working Joes, I know they're not made by WY, but is it just me or do their voices sound close to Bishop from Aliens?

1979 mode is pretty intense, nothing but you, the alien and a barely loaded flamethrower. You can also find that unicorn in one of the service hatch rooms.

I just had an idea for a sequel to Alien: Isolation, in the area of the story. I know people will groan at this idea, but when it comes to the idea of a sequel to it, if they do a Part 2, and happen to have it set within the Aliens timeframe, maybe they could have the sequel game set within the events of Hadley's Hope, dealing with the Colonists first encounter with the xenomorph, and their eventual fate. Maybe tell Newt's story (and have it end right where Newt's appearance in the film starts)? Just an idea. I know its stupid, but seeing the story of Hadley's Hope is always something that seemed interesting to me (yes, we get a bit of the story in the Special Edition scene showing the colony, and see the aftermath, but I'd like to see if maybe what happened between the scene with Newt's father with the face hugger, and moments after the barricade failed and the colonists' fate were sealed).
